Pearson Senior DevOps Engineer in Sri Lanka

Purpose of the position

As a senior DevOps engineer, you will own building, running, and supporting our Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelined environment with an eye toward best-in-class automation and security integration. You will also be responsible for driving DevOps culture and best practices into the environment and leading the establishment and adoption of the CI/CD technology ecosystem. You and your team will also support the documentation and governance of best practices and provide training, coaching, and mentoring on those best practices, including SCM, TDD/BDD, YAML templating, built-in security remediation, etc. You will help drive DevOps maturity across the entire organization and will contribute to key decisions on how to best evolve the platform technology.

Core tasks and responsibilities

Administrator Azure DevOps & configuration

Administrator YAML & pipelines as code

Manage ADO Extensions

Assist with external tool integrations (for example SonarQube, ServiceNow, Power BI, Mend, etc.)

Authoring CI/CD templates

Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

6+ years experience across software development and DevOps practices.

2+ years of experience with .NET (Framework and Core) development is desirable, with a focus on web-related frameworks like ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC.

Administration of Azure DevOps including YAML pipelines and releases.

Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms. Certifications preferred.

Experience integrating with APIs (Application Program Interfaces), particularly RESTful.

Extensive experience with automated security testing tools.

Experience with implementing offensive security practices.

Azure DevOps Extension Authoring (HTML, JS, CSS).

Secure coding practices

Knowledge of common attack scenarios and how to protect against them (i.e., OWASP Top 10)

Basic scripting ability in PowerShell and Azure CLI

Basic SQL ability

Understanding of SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI architecture

Understanding of Threat Modelling and how to identify specific security requirements for a project

Agile software development

Current understanding regarding design-in security best practices.

Experience coaching and mentoring technology talent.

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Educational Management Systems (EMS) is an added advantage

Possesses the ability to work well across teams in a cross-functional organization to get things done

Ability to “connect the dots” when it comes to large system design and understands and solves enterprise-scale technical integration concerns
