Role overview:

The English Language Learning (ELL) division of Pearson is looking for a talented and motivated professional to join our growing organization as a QA Lead Engineer.

As a QA Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the robustness and reliability of our products, working closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders. You will lead our QAs, hands-on, to a quality driven mindset where we always put our customers, first, and proactively break our product to ensure that our customers get the best possible, bug free, experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead testing efforts across backend, frontend, mobile, and REST APIs.

  • Plan and lead software testing, setting priorities in collaboration with the POs – our teams are spread across the globe

  • Establish, lead, maintain and continuously improve a suite of robust testing processes throughout development, pre-production, and post-release phases.

  • Continuously enhance our automated testing suite, ensuring comprehensive coverage of critical system components.

  • Promote high degree of QA automation as part of a CI/CD pipelines.

  • Define, document and enforce best practice SDLC processes and standards.

  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and customer success managers to deeply understand customer business and use cases.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and troubleshoot defects and bugs, and working to resolve these issues in a timely manner

  • Be responsible for testing tools, including but not limited to Mocha, Java + Selenide, Selenium, React Testing Library, Playright, Cypress, and Postman.

  • Developing and executing test plans and test cases

  • Verify the functionality and performance of software products and applications

  • Developing and maintaining automated test scripts

  • Participating in code reviews and providing feedback on code quality and testability

  • Creating and maintaining automated test suites to increase efficiency and effectiveness

  • Participating in release management processes

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 6+ years of Agile ways of working, and software development cycle.

  • 6+ years of experience in automation suites and manual testing

  • ISTQB certification - Test Manager level – is a plus

  • Proactive, curious, and driven mindset with a passion for breaking and improving software.

  • Ability to deeply understand customer business needs and use cases to ensure software quality.

  • Must have strong Leadership skills to support QA team members, and identify/resolve QA challenges through mentoring and guidance,

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional remote teams.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and possess strong technical skills to ensure that the software meets the required quality standards

  • Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Java

  • Experience with Agile and team collaboration tools such as JIRA

  • Critical thinking skills to recommend original and productive ideas

  • Ability to work effectively with agility and resilience in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to analyse data and information to identify patterns and trends that may indicate problems with the software

  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage their time efficiently to meet project deadlines

  • Willing to learn innovative technologies and tools to stay up to date with the latest developments in software testing

  • Passion for education and learning
