The Role at a Glance:

As an English Language Assessment Manager specializing in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of English language testing at Pearson. Working alongside a team of Test Development specialists, your primary focus will be on developing and refining our English language proficiency assessments. You will ensure that our testing instruments are crafted to the highest standards, aligning with our test specifications and meeting the evolving needs of the market.

Make Your Mark through:

Quality Management: Lead the development of assessment specifications, ensuring they are valid and fit for purpose. Oversee a team of external item writers, uphold professional standards, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of test quality.

Test Cycle Management: Supervise the production and review of test materials, manage the recruitment and training of examiners, and oversee pre-testing processes to ensure the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Customer Service Excellence: Maintain a high standard of customer service, ensuring all test-related documentation is accurate and inquiries are addressed promptly.

Collaboration and Industry Engagement: Work closely with internal teams and industry experts to ensure Pearson's tests remain at the forefront of language assessment.

You're Our Dream Candidate If You Have:

Essential Skills

  • Educated to Post Graduate level with a Masters level qualification in ESOL, Applied Linguistics, Educational Measurement, or similar

  • Deep understanding of assessment issues

  • Affinity for statistics

  • Quality orientated with excellent attention to detail

  • Proven administrative skills

  • Project management skills and experience

  • Experience of working in a team

  • Flexible; willing to cover for other people and meet challenging deadlines

  • Experience of different international educational contexts

Desired Skills

  • High level command of the English language

  • Knowledge of a second language

  • Qualified professional with extensive teaching and/or training experience

  • ESOL Teaching qualifications
