As one of our interns, you will gain a comprehensive introduction to our business. You’ll be assigned to a team and work on real-life projects that bring our products and services to life. You’ll also have direct access to a senior member of the team, as each intern will be mentored to help you make the most of the 10-week program.

What Does the Internship Program Offer?

Successful candidates will spend 10 weeks working with our technology teams.

You will be paid for the duration of your internship. The internship begins on Monday, June 2 nd and ends Friday, August 8 th .

Job Description

As a Security Analyst, you will develop expertise in information security, working collaboratively with the Security and Risk Management teams across IT and Chief Information Security Office (CISO). You will be helping Pearson analyze problems, working with technical partners and teams to understand the security architecture, product development and threat landscape, and assist in implementing and managing new security services and enabling tools and processes.

What do the 10 weeks involve?

Security analyst interns will work in one of two areas at Pearson: the Security Operations Center (SOC) or the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team. In the SOC, interns will collaborate with the Red and Blue teams, participate in penetration tests, and engage in cybersecurity threat intelligence. In the GRC team, interns will help Pearson manage risks, meet regulations, and align IT strategy with business goals. During the interview, you will have the opportunity to clarify which area you are most interested in working.

Interns will develop a broad knowledge of cybersecurity at Pearson by completing rotational placements across various security functions within IT and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) organization. These functions include the Security Operations Center (SOC), threat intelligence, forensic investigations, risk management, product security, security testing, and vulnerability remediation. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work on and contribute to security architecture and security engineering initiatives.

As part of the internship, you will receive mentorship from experienced professionals, participate in training sessions, and gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge security technologies. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity practices and prepare you for a successful career in the field.

Minimum Requirements

  • We look for Students pursuing a STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with information security subjects or relevant work experience. We also look for students pursuing a degree in computer science, cyber security, software engineering, information security, engineering, or technology.

  • Students should also have a basic familiarity of Cloud platforms, in particular AWS, Azure and/or Google. Experience in coding with Python or similar would be useful.

  • Students should be well-rounded and happy to take on new challenges. Flexibility is important, as you will be joining a versatile and agile Cyber Security team. Critical thinking and analytical communication are desirable qualities in a candidate.

  • Graduation date of May 2026

  • Must be able to work hybrid; in-person/remote at our Durham office for the entire 10-weeks
