Summary:
As a member of the content development team, you will conduct in-person and virtual workshops with subject matter experts (SMEs) to write and review test questions and assemble examinations. You will evaluate test items applying best practices in assessment, including the use of statistical performance data. You will also be responsible for managing item banks as well as ensuring that test schedules are developed, maintained, and executed.
The item and exam building tasks performed in this position have a high impact on the business interests of the company. You will be supported in developing error-free exams with training and resources, assistance from your manager and teammates, and quality control (QC) activities conducted by the test publishing quality assurance team.
Responsibilities:
As a Content Developer, you will...
Use proprietary item/exam development and banking software to maintain and manage test content (items) and associated elements throughout the exam lifecycle for accuracy, quality, validity, style guide adherence, and Pearson VUE standards.
Understand intellectual property confidentiality and security considerations and abide by defined business practices to provide appropriate protection.
Partner with clients and cross functional teams on multiple exam programs and deliverables, monitoring scope and deadlines and escalating risks when needed. Assist in startup process for new clients.
Plan and facilitate item and exam development activities with clients and their subject matter experts (SMEs) as per contract and exam needs.
Evaluate exam program needs using statistical data and other criteria to evaluate items and item bank health.
Recommend item and exam development activities and contribute to schedule planning.
Prepare materials, including training presentations, for test development meetings. Conduct all aspects of meeting planning: SME recruitment, hotel and catering contracts, travel arrangements, and expense reporting.
Establish test development meeting goals for item writing and review and define a test development schedule to achieve those goals. Facilitate virtual and in-person workshops where SMEs write and review examination items.
Contribute to all job analysis and standard setting meetings in collaboration with psychometric team, including SME recruitment, materials development, and meeting attendance.
Assemble examinations within proprietary item development software and perform QC.
Adhere to established QC processes and guidelines, ensuring accuracy of test content components and item set selection per specs, SME input, psychometric input, and scoring parameters.
Collaborate effectively with members of testing services teams and other cross-functional Pearson teams, providing timely and complete input on reports, documentation, projects, teams, meetings, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience as content or test developer, related coursework, or direct applicable experience
Experience with regulatory testing/professional licensure and/or the real estate or insurance industry desirable
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Initiative and troubleshooting
Passionate about quality and attention to detail (e.g., proofreading)
Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn a variety of technical systems and applications
Ability to coordinate work schedule with Eastern time zone, when needed
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive)
Work environment:
Use of phone, PC, and keyboard for data input
This is a remote position, with occasional travel required to one of the following local Pearson VUE offices as needed for training and company meetings:

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The starting salary for the full-time position is $65,000.
