Pearson Software Quality Engineer in Western Province, Sri Lanka

Software Quality Engineer


Responsibilities and domain knowledge should cover as it assigned by

the leadership

  • Adhere to company and project standards and guidelines.

  • Should support initiatives to achieve organization objectives

  • Participate in overall Pearson Lanka testing requirements including

down time testing, All hands testing and Release Train

Automation test execution.

  • Awareness of Pearson Lanka and SQE department goals and support

the team to achieve those goals

  • Awareness of release process, all SQE artifacts, Tools and

methodologies in the organization

  • Should be able to understand requirements clearly & relationships of

new requirements to existing functionality from Business perspective

  • Ability to understand requirement and technical reference documents,

charts, diagrams without a doubt and able to review and escalate any


  • Responsible for implementing test scenarios and test cases based on

designed provided. peer reviewing QA artifacts such as test cases and

test scenarios

  • Ability to develop parts of the test strategies and contribute test

strategy design process

  • Ability to understand, troubleshoot and differentiate defects and

requirement without a doubt

  • Responsible for On time delivery and timely escalations/update of

risks, issues, status and exemptions to leadership

  • Should be able to support the Project team on Automation

  • Should have a good knowledge of Automation tools,

architecture, framework and technologies used

  • Awareness of DB IDEs used

  • Effective communication with the team, leadership, internal and

external customers covering all aspects of team needs.

  • Awareness of agile development practice and QA activities in the


  • Actively involve in at least one Practice Area.

  • Effectively participate in training organized by team/Organization and

ability self-learn on domain and tools

  • Ability conduct training on domain/skill area

  • Maintain high team morale while working with other departments

  • Should support the team to achieve delivery expectations without

  • Actively involved in team events and organizing events

  • Own and complete successfully any other duties as assigned by the reporting



Education, Qualifications and background

  • BSc in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent

professional qualification

  • Minimum 1 year in Associate QA Engineer designation and role

  • Knowledge on Software Quality Assurance and testing

  • Knowledge in software development and the software development


  • Good analytical skills, troubleshooting and resolution skills.

  • Ability to self-learn and grasp the knowledge quickly.

  • Knowledge in Object oriented concepts, simple SQL Queries

  • Basic Knowledge in at least one software development tool

  • Ability to express and articulate the subject clearly and accurately

  • Ability to carry the right information to the right people

  • Should have an aptitude in reconciling business requirements with

testing requirements with help of other stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of one Automation.

  • Basic knowledge on Agile/Scrum.

  • Should have good time management skills and optimistic attitude.
