Pearson Technical Program Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Position Summary

Pearson Virtual Schools' Agile Facilitation and Program Management Office is seeking an experienced Program Managerto join our fast-paced organization. You will work closely with both the product management team and software development groups across the enterprise to define the strategy and requirements for our Family Enrollment Services division. This role requires the ability to effectively manage multiple product development cycles and communicate with executive management on status, risks, and mitigations throughout the program. A successful candidate will have a technical background, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as great program management and communication competencies. This position requires the ability to embrace transformation trend supporting technology (cloud, automation, resilience, security) and execution strategies (agile, waterfall) as appropriate.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to organization objectives

  • Develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement

  • Maintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance

  • Oversee multiple project teams, ensuring program goals are reached

  • Manage budget and funding channels for maximum productivity


  • Work closely with the enterprise product management, software engineering, enterprise architecture, and business sponsor groups to define strategy, design, and requirements for our Family Enrollment Services portal.

  • Work closely with project managers, agile facilitators, and team leads to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.

  • Collaborate with various lines of business to identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities across multiple projects within the organization

  • Analyze, evaluate program progress, and overcome program risks, and produce program reports for management and stakeholders


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Combined 5+ years project / program management experience with at least 3 years of that dedicated to hands-on project management/scrum experience

  • An ability to identify better ways of working at scale through building new mechanisms and processes, and ability to deliver against goals on time

  • A high degree of competency with project management including identifying and managing risks, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communicating overall project status via project plans, schedules and status reports and program metrics.

  • Experience with Agile traits and techniques: Lean design, accommodating changing requirements, iterations, loop feedback with customer involvement.

  • Excellent collaboration, with crisp and compelling verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills and listening skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to varying audiences

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment; proactive in seeking out information when necessary

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps, Jira, ServiceNow, and similar ALM tools to manage and track progress, including the development of progress metrics and KPIs

  • PMI-ACP and/or PMP certifications desired

  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM software
