Pearson Business Analyst - eCommerce in Washington, District Of Columbia
Pearson’s Global Digital Channels & Experience group is looking for a Business Analyst (BA) Lead to define, create and communicate business requirements for our global eCommerce platform in consultation with key business stakeholders, Product, Engineering, Design, Operations, Content and Customer Support teams, and get them implemented by partnering closely with the Development teams.
This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong understanding of business analysis best practices, SDLC-oriented documentation, and experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders. In addition, the Business Analyst is expected to have a strong working knowledge of eCommerce best practices and leading trends, to actively contribute towards building a world-class, consumer grade eCommerce experience for Pearson.
Collaborate with key stakeholders and cross-functional team members across Marketing, Sales, Product, Engineering, Design, Customer Support, Legal, Content, Operations to gather and define business requirements for initiative-driven and core platform based eCommerce capabilities
Help align Product Managers, Experience Design, Engineering and other relevant stakeholders on shared expectations/specifications
Proactively contribute recommendations for requirements/feature enrichment based on eCommerce best practices in the industry and competitive landscape (outside-in) and robust understanding of the customer needs (inside-out)
Ability to comfortably work autonomously with little direction, or collaboratively
Serve as thought leader, developing forward-thinking solutions to mitigate customer pain points and improve efficiency and productivity on multiple levels
Perform, evaluate, and communicate thorough quality assurance at every stage of ongoing eCommerce platform enhancement. Participate in user acceptance testing
Effectively communicate relevant insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management
Author and update internal and external documentation, and formally initiate and deliver requirements and documentation
Provide leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior analysts
Must Have Attributes:
3+ years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst, or similar role
BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Experience with eCommerce concepts and best practices and proven ability to specify and drive implementation of best-in-class solutions. Specifically, prior experience/knowledge of Hybris and AEM is a strong plus
Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to distill signal from noise
Excellent communicator with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
Highly proficient technical writing capabilities
Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
Experience leading and developing top-performing teams
Excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, team-oriented and collaborative environment, in planned and unplanned setups
Strong experience with JIRA and Confluence is a must. Working knowledge of product planning tools like Aha! And A/B testing tools Is desirable, along with a good understanding of Agile scrum and SDLC methodologies
Communication skills : You have excellent verbal communication skills and are able to collaborate with others on problem solving and requirements gathering sessions. You're happy to work with teams to educate and spread ideas. Your written skills allow you to communicate documentation and collaborate through agile management systems such as Jira, or Confluence
Time Management : You have excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex business environment, coupled with the aptitude to set priorities, manage deadlines, and make bold data-driven decisions
Judgement and problem-solving skills : You are a proactive problem solver, naturally inquisitive and independent critical thinker with a creative mind set
Customer service orientation: You are a self-motivated individual with a strong customer service mindset and are adept working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
**This position is fully remote within the United States, however preference is for Eastern time zone (Hoboken/NYC)
