Pearson Manager Marketing Communications in Turkey


This is a newly created role that will support the Regional Marketing Team in successful execution of Direct-to-Consumer and Business-to-Business campaigns. Reporting to the Regional Marketing Director, you will be responsible for partnering with Regional Marketing Managers, VP Campaign & Performance Marketing, the Pearson Master Brand team and external agency partners to regionally drive the new brand strategy, architecture, and annual campaign calendar in order to implement the strategy with speed, agility, and simplicity.

You will be a marketing expert, experienced in campaign execution, with an in-depth understanding of the digital media landscape, marketing technology and performance marketing. You will be responsible for leading, coaching and developing your team and manage an annual marketing budget.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ownership of the Regional campaign calendar:

  • Work with both the Regional Marketing Managers and the Global campaign team to define a regional campaign calendar which delivers against our global and local big bets.

  • Ownership of the regional campaign creative and activation budget. Working in close partnership with Regional Marketing Managers and embracing the “spend every penny as if it were my own” mentality.

  • Be the Region’s voice in global campaign creations:

  • Work closely with Regional Marketing Managers and Global Campaign team to ensure that all global campaigns understand and reflect local insight.

  • Represent the region in key creative milestone meetings. Gaining regional stakeholders’ input and constructively sharing feedback.

  • Lead the localisation and transcreation of the global campaign kit into local market language. Forming a close working relationship with local agency team to deliver high quality work at pace.

  • Excellent activation of global campaign across the region:

  • Lead and own the relationship with the region’s media agency. Working in partnership to design best in class activation plans taking on board global recommendations and local market insight.

  • Be the regions expert in marketing software, using our systems to optimise our campaign deliver.

  • Actively use the global campaign score card to gain deep insights into our creative execution and media channel effectiveness. Act on this insight fast, optimising campaigns inflight to maximise return on investment. Share learning across all regions and with the global team.

  • Be the Region’s social and digital experts

  • Educate and inspire the whole region and global team on local insights and behaviour. Bring best practice into our creative and media planning.

  • Own the regions website, working closely with global web transformation team, to make our website into our number 1 sales champion.

  • Drive traffic to our website through an always on SEO and PPC approach.

  • Be the regional lead for our always on social program. Working closely with the group marketing team to implement our global content and with the regional agency team to add in locally relevant content.

  • Be the Region’s brand ambassador:

  • Champion and educate the regional team on brand guideline. Ensuring implementation in regional comms, websites and across social media so we are building 1 ELL brand throughout the world.

  • Help build a high performing team recognised for quality and pace of work:

  • Actively coach and develop your team of direct reports.

  • Always be ready to support any member of the regional team:

  • When necessary, provide additional resource to deliver local marketing campaigns

  • Be a key player in regional go-to-market conferences, ensuring marketing excites, inspires and impresses the sales and product organisation.

  • Form close working relationships with the regional sales, product and technology organisation.

  • Lead by example, demonstrating great behaviours every day: always curious, always collaborative, positively influencing, can do attitude and a sense of fun

Candidate Profile


  • Demonstrable professional experience in Marketing or brand agency, with a strong record of accomplishment in local market activation.

  • Track record of developing and optimising full funnel campaigns, with a deep understanding of marketing technologies and their best use

  • Strong understanding of local consumer and customer and what it will take to ensure they choose Pearson.

  • Deep understanding of media strategies and managing spend across numerous performance-driven marketing channels

  • Experience in managing or working with local marketing, trans-creation or media agencies.

  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to generate insights that inform investment decisions and marketing strategy

  • Setup and manage campaigns for success, demonstrating strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking

  • Experience developing and reporting on metrics and KPIs for campaign delivery, Up-to-date with latest trends and digital marketing best practices, also in the area of ad networks including Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, plus ability to clearly articulate and express complex and sometimes technical ideas to a wide variety of people and groups at any level

  • Able to deal with ambiguity, competing priorities and a wide variety of cultures and local markets differences You have a track record of achievement, translating complex strategies into actionable plans.

  • Enthusiastic, passionate, and creative; thrives on thinking outside of the box to create new best-in-class experiences

  • Action-oriented with a “roll up your sleeves approach”

  • Local language fluency needed in a minimum of 1 x regional language: multiple regional languages would be advantageous.

  • Evident fluency in English Language, being confident in speaking, reading and writing communication.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred, you may also benefit from holding a professional Marketing qualification.
