Pearson Direct/Field Sales Representative in Portugal

Pearson is looking for a dynamic and motivated Educational Sales Representative to join our team in Portugal. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a proven track record in sales. This role involves identifying and engaging with potential clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions that enhance their educational offerings.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions. Your goal will be to drive sales growth, expand our market presence and grow our market share. You will work closely with our marketing and product development teams to ensure that our offerings meet the evolving needs of the education sector. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, a deep understanding of the education industry, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. You will be expected to stay up to date with industry trends and developments, and to continuously seek out new opportunities for growth. This is a challenging and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Higher Education sales revenue in Portugal by identifying and establishing partnership with a range of stakeholders in Higher Education institutions (including professors, heads of departments, deans, librarians)

  • Determine sales priorities and work with regional Head of Sales on developing a business plan for the territory

  • Develop new accounts and new revenue streams through active prospecting

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients and provide excellent customer service

  • Conduct group and individual product/technology presentations

  • Work with instructors to match Pearson products to their program to drive adoption sales

  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and provide regular updates to the head of sales

  • Track and follow up on all sales leads and keep detailed records of activities on Salesforce

  • Provide accurate and timely sales reports and forecasts to management

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Handle client inquiries and resolve issues promptly.

  • Provide feedback to improve products and services.

Other responsibilities

  • Work in concert with the operations team in the organization to ensure effective and efficient support for customers

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Pearson products, platforms and capabilities as well as partner platforms

  • Stay abreast of issues impacting the educational industry and factors influencing the market environment

Key competencies required:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Education, Business, Marketing or a related field

  • 3-4 years experience with a successful track record in working with channel partners, bookstores, sales or related customer-facing roles in higher education or a related field

  • Experience interfacing with executive management; ability to conduct high-level sales meetings with Deans, Vice-Chancellors and other similar executive levels

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Strategic & creative thinking to develop innovative ideas to increase monetisation

  • Experience in solution selling and digital products, preferably in a B2B setting

  • Passion for higher education, learner success and Pearson's mission

  • Strong networking skills and familiarity with social media selling & prospecting

  • Willing to spend a significant portion of time on field sales activities

  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English and Portuguese. Proficiency in Spanish a plus.

  • Experience with SalesForce would be a key advantage.
