Pearson H&S, Compliance and Quality Manager in United Kingdom

About the role

The Pearson TQ business must comply with both national regulation and Pearson plc policies and processes in the natural course of its delivery of learning content and courses. The application of these policies and processes can often differ from contract to contract and are the responsibility of local, contract based managers but the Pearson TQ business must maintain oversight and coordination between them and Pearson plc, especially in respect of Quality, H&S and Compliance.

In this role, you will take the lead for Pearson TQ in the coordination of the business’s strategy and approach to Quality, H&S, Data Compliance and Information Security. You will be provide a single point of coordination for Pearson TQ businesses and contracts adherence to Pearson policies and procedures.

Key outputs

  • TQ UK Group Quality Strategy & Policy – Updated annually in line with most recent guidance and best practice, implemented with contract leads, recorded and reported, where required.

  • Co-ordination and management of all Pearson TQ Head Office external audit visits, i.e. Awarding Body, SFA, Ofsted, ISO 9001 etc.

  • Support Pearson TQ’s Ofsted Inspection nominee.

  • Information Security – PTQ’s lead on CISO’s Shared Tech and Organisational Risk Management process. Close liaison required with Pearson CISO and IS leads and to ensure Pearson TQ remains compliant with Pearson plc and national requirements for IS.

  • Data Privacy - Close liaison with Pearson Data Privacy leads and to ensure Pearson TQ remains compliant with Pearson plc and national requirements for Data Privacy.

  • Compliance Management – support contract leads, as required, with measures to be compliant with regulations emanating from GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus, ESFA, IfATE, DfE and other national bodies and accrediting organisations that serve as a ‘licence to operate’ for Pearson TQ.

  • PTQ’s lead for the coordination of Drive Tech records with Pearson UK fleet manager.

  • Responsible for all external quality accreditation and kite marks.

  • Quality & ISO 9001 – maintain accreditations for the TQ Group by working with the quality representatives across the UK and expand the Head Office accreditation to cover other business areas. Monitor and report on quality activity within individual contract areas.

  • Responsible for coordination of any Pearson plc internal audit in Pearson TQ.

  • Quality Improvement Plan – produce a plan for TQ UK, drive the implementation of and produce metrics on progress against the plan.

  • Pearson – build links and liaise with Pearson quality personnel as required to ensure that TQ QMS aligns, as far as possible, with Pearson Quality policies and approach.

  • Business continuity planning and dissemination of jointly developed plans and policy.

  • Contribute specialist knowledge in support of competitive bids and new projects.

Key responsibilities

  • To be responsible for your own welfare by following the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and other related policies such as Equality, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Prevention of Harassment, Public Disclosure “Whistle-blowing” and Data Protection etc.

  • Execute the responsibilities of your role according to standards, as set out in the Code of Conduct and staff handbook.

  • Take responsibility for personal CPD and lifelong learning.

  • To maintain a professional image and enhance the company’s reputation for quality and service.

  • To undertake/perform other duties associated with this role, by agreement.

  • Manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders - VP Pearson TQ, Contract Leads, Workforce Skills Division, Pearson TQ WBL delivery and quality managers and officer counterparts, Awarding Bodies, OFSTED and Pearson's Quality, H&S and Compliance networks.

About you

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification

  • Full driving licence and ability to be flexible with regards to travel (mileage allowance payable)

  • Quality Management experience, with detailed knowledge and practical experience of ISO9001, Matrix Quality Standard and working with Awarding Bodies.

  • Experience in devising effective Integrated Management systems.

  • Strong influencer with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to prioritise and organise a demanding workload, adapting to fit the changing needs of the business.

  • Quality conscious and methodical approach to work, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Tenacious and results focused, able to set goals and overcome obstacles, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Self-motivated, committed, flexible and enthusiastic.
