About the role

As the Content Producer, you will partner with internal teams such as Product Management, Content Strategy, Quality Assurance (QA) and Accessibility, and with external partners such as authors and vendors, to deliver high‐quality digital and print products to help people make measurable progress in their lives through learning. Product delivery platforms include Digital Courseware (including Revel, MyLabs and eBooks), learning apps and tools, printed books and supporting supplements; strategy evolves with changing market needs. You must be able to pivot quickly as market needs dictate.

In the Content Producer role, you will lead and manage assigned programs that are comprised of multiple components (projects), through strategic planning and controlling the program scope, budgets, costs, time schedules, quality and timely delivery of all program components. You will manage dependencies and will be accountable for all program components - digital and print - from end to end.

Additionally, you will communicate the program plan to a cross-functional team and demonstrates leadership and collaboration in implementing and executing the plan. Identifying and escalating risks and creating risk-mitigations plans is also part of your role.

Job Duties

  • Planning: you will collaborate with Content Strategy and Product teams to advise on and execute the program plan with particular attention to product delivery strategy, resource and budget needs, and schedule needs.

  • Content: you will confirm and request clarification where there is a lack of clarity for deliverables for each program component. You will be responsible for communicating requirements for each program component to a cross-functional team regarding workflow, process, schedule and deliverables, and ensures final content achieves approved content plan.

  • Schedule: you will be responsible for establishing a coordinated high-level schedule for all program components; monitoring and controlling schedule dependencies for program components and ensuring programs publish to the agreed schedule.

  • Partners: you will manage upstream delivery of content from authors/contributors according to program needs, providing guidance on and ensuring adherence to key areas including but not limited to: Rights & Permissions; Pearson’s Editorial Policy: and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Managing vendors and freelancers to achieve content, schedule, and budget requirements will be a key part of your role.

  • Budget: you will work with Portfolio team and other stakeholders to create P&Ls for proposed products, be responsible for budget performance of the program, communicating budgets to all parties, maintain an overview of budget performance against approved plan/signed business case, and identify any additional budget needs in advance of spend to ensure alternatives are considered.

  • Quality: you will ensure that content is of the highest quality and is fit for purpose, following all of Pearson’s content principles.

  • Communication: you will be responsible for communicating with all relevant stakeholders throughout product creation process; including planning, organising and participating in periodic meetings of the program team to evaluate status, problem-solve, and mitigate risks.

  • Problem-solving: you will collaborate with decision makers and stakeholders to resolve conflicts between planning and execution of various aspects of program plan, working with the program team members to identify and resolve risks and issues.

  • Technical: you will become familiar with and able to work in Pearson’s bespoke tools and platforms to deliver quality products on time and on schedule.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.

  • Clear history of experience, preferably in higher education academic publishing or content creation (editorial, digital strategy, end to end project management).

  • Technical skills and comfortable with learning and working in multiple digital tools and platforms.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience of Smartsheet or other project management tools.

  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS an advantage.

  • Knowledge of video compression software & general video production techniques a plus.

  • Knowledge of, or interest in, accessibility (WCAG 2.1) a plus.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Collecting and analysing available and relevant information to support your decisions.

  • Ability to work through ambiguity and prioritise effectively.

  • Actively contributes towards establishing ‘best practice’ within the wider team.

  • Developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional and multi-national teams to ensure correct focus on time/quality/cost triangle.

  • Approachable and behaves ethically and with integrity.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex programs with interrelated asset and timing dependencies.

  • Exhibits curiosity and learning agility to discover and understand market and customer requirements.

  • Strong financial management skills.
