Pearson Business Skills Coach in United Kingdom
Purpose
To deliver high quality training programmes that develop Apprentices’/learners knowledge, skills and behaviours as required for their Level 3 or Level 5 Programme. Complete individual Apprentice/learner learning, assessments, reviews and completions in a timely manner as set by management, achieving or exceeding the required quality standards. To support all elements of the Apprentice/learner journey, including preparation for Gateway for Standards Apprentices, providing Apprentices/learners with constructive, professional and relevant feedback and support in order for them to gain the Apprenticeship Standards and/or qualifications, as appropriate.
Core tasks and responsibilities
Provide and deliver a high-quality, robust, individualised programme that supports the Apprentice/learner’s journey in relation to the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for their programme
Input to initial assessment, eligibility, pre-enrolment and induction processes to ensure Apprentices/learners starting points are accurately recorded and their programme of learning reflects this information
Provide coaching and mentoring to, and arrange visits, either face to face or remotely with Apprentices/learners to develop workplace knowledge, skills and behaviours as part of their qualification and/or Apprenticeship in order to progress and complete Apprentices/learners in a timely manner
Observe Apprentices/learners in the workplace and/or virtually against criteria laid down by the relevant awarding body and give feedback as appropriate
Effectively use the e-portfolio/VLE to support and progress Apprentices/learners on their programme/s
Conduct assessments, where required, to monitor Apprentice/learner development and to generate evidence towards the qualification/end point assessment within set timeframes and to achieve targets set by management in a timely manner
Provide constructive, professional and relevant feedback to Apprentices/learners in relation to their qualification and/or Apprenticeship Standard
Utilise all available and appropriate technology in the delivery of learning programmes to support and develop Apprentices/learners knowledge, skills and behaviours effectively and efficiently
Deliver face-to-face and virtual classroom training sessions to coach Apprentices/learners in business and management skills and to support and develop skills, knowledge and behaviours to successfully gain the qualification/Apprenticeship
Ensure strong knowledge, skills and behaviours are acquired to enable high levels of success for Apprentices at end-point assessment
Ensure own assessments, where required, are accurate and achieve internal quality assurance rates set by management
Carry out formal progress reviews with Apprentices/learners and complete paperwork and administration within agreed timescales
Ensure that own allocated Apprentices/learners are progressing in line with their target achievement dates and liaise with the Programme Manager/s for the purpose of monitoring the progress of qualification/standards achievement
Track and report progress of planned learning, maintaining records throughout the Apprentice/learner journey ensuring full compliance with Ofsted, ESFA and other regulatory bodies
Promptly identify situations requiring periods of absence from the programme or potential issues or risks and submit accurate paperwork as required and in a timely manner
Ensure that Apprentice/learner records are accurately maintained, including records held within MIS systems, e-portfolio and online learning systems
Assist with ongoing development of the programme to ensure resources are current and relevant
Complete Apprentice visits, either virtual or to other sites and locations, when required or as directed by management
Quality assure the work of other Coaches where qualified, directed to do so and in a timely manner
Maintain positive relationships with Apprentices/learners, business partners and all other stakeholders to ensure Pearson TQ retains and gains business
Coach and mentor Apprentices/learners to develop positive attitudes towards learning and studying
Attend standardisation and team meetings as required
Identify, complete and record appropriate annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities that maintain your ability to support the delivery of programmes and Apprenticeships
Assist in the support and delivery of other qualifications/programmes when required
Be flexible over hours of attendance/work, including evenings and weekends where required
Cover for other Skills Coaches where required and directed to
To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time
Qualifications
Training / Competencies
Hold relevant assessor/teaching/training qualifications
Highly motivated, flexible and adaptable
Excellent communication skills
Proven coaching and mentoring skills
Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills
Good IT skills
Work under own supervision
A flexible approach to a varied workload
Essential
Qualified trainer and assessor with at least 5 years training and delivery experience within the Apprenticeship business skills sector including experience in delivery of Level 3 and Level 5 leadership programmes
Industry competence and experience in a management role
Can demonstrate effective learner and caseload management
Can demonstrate use of technology to support effective and efficient delivery
Can consistently demonstrate operating as an outstanding or minimum good trainer/assessor, through previous OTLA and standardisation observations
Proven ability to work in a target driven environment and track record in successfully achieving targets
Excellent written skills to enable detailed feedback and target setting of objectives
Desirable
Delivery experience of CMI Qualifications
A relevant Management qualification at Level 5 or above
Experience of Ofsted inspections
Understanding of ESFA funding requirements
