The VP of Partner Success within Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS) will provide executive leadership to drive the growth of our university partnerships and achievement of shared strategic objectives. This spans driving growth across online graduate and undergraduate degree programs and short courses, delivering on strategic opportunities for the partnership, and building relationships at the Executive level of the university. The VP will also ensure that his/her team of Partnership Directors delivers on our university partners’ objectives and builds successful relationships with key university stakeholders at all levels. The VP is a senior leader role within POLS and reports directly to the Managing Director of POLS.

The desired candidate must have a comprehensive approach to building and sustaining effective partnerships and business operations, and requires the following:

  • Manage team of POLS Partnership Directors and university relationships to ensure POLS has the right relationships in place with senior administration leaders to foster growth of programs, expansion within the university, and renewal of partnerships.

  • Effectively build and manage relationships with multiple university partners, acting as the executive leader for the POLS and as a trusted, strategic advisor.

  • Deliver on our shared growth and strategic objectives with our university partners and build new business opportunities.

  • Develop strategic insight as to the direction of higher education and the OPM market to effectively forecast opportunities with the Partnership Director team, on behalf of our university partnerships. Oversee implementation of strategic initiatives across the portfolio

  • Partner with peers across our matrixed organization to create consistent practices and approaches to drive results across all our partners and programs. Ensure the Partnership Directors are also working effectively across the matrixed organization

  • Ensure a world-class, winning team is in place who are effective in strategic account management and operations. Anticipate future talent needs and ensure talent identification, development and retention strategies are successfully designed and implemented

  • Foster a success-oriented, customer-service focused accountable environment, and provide day-to-day leadership that mirrors the strategy, mission and core values of Pearson.

  • Develop relationships across broader Pearson to ensure we bring to bear the products and capabilities of our global organization for the benefit of our university partnerships

  • Identify innovations important to our partners, and work with peers to identify new operational infrastructure (systems, processes, and/or personnel) required to deliver on these innovations

  • In partnership with Finance develop pro formas, P&L models and forecasting for new programs.

  • Measure performance of individual program P&Ls within portfolio and establish targets for improvement


General Qualifications

  • 10+ years managing external client/partners and leading large scale internal operations

  • Demonstrated success at developng and implementing integrated strategies and programs which deliver results in alignment with overall business objectives.

  • An exceptional Executve-level relationship builder/influencer with a proven track record of effectively managing a diverse stakeholder group in a complex enterprise and executing on strategies to deliver superior rsults in both the short and long term.

  • Strong executive presence, adepts at interaction with a diverse group of internal clients along with senior execuitives of a partner institutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through influencing others. Proven success in a matrix management environment.

  • Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.

  • Excedllent judgement, intellectual ability and leadership skills with high integrity.

  • Well-developed commercial and business acumen.

  • Strong strategic cosulting skills and experience.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills for effective contact and presentation with executive stakeholders at univeristy partners and across Pearson.

  • Strong analytical skills, with a track record of developing actionable recommendations from quantitative data.

  • Bachelor's degree required; Advance degree preferable.
