Reporting the Higher Education Finance SVP, the VP Finance will oversee all US Higher Education costs & investment and partner to drive divisional profitability. This individual will lead a team of 5 who provides strategic and commercial finance support for higher education content development, digital platforms, managing the operational costs of the business, and emerging business models. The successful candidate will be an innovative and analytical thinker with strong communication, influencing and interpersonal, and a demonstrated track record of successful team leadership.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Drive an integrated investment prioritization and decision-making process across content development, platform capabilities, and new business models. Inclusive of modeling for aggregate portfolio and specific business case initiatives and trade-off scenario planning. Combined with seeking new ways to manage & analyze the business and identifying new areas of growth.
Work with senior management to develop 3 year strategic plans to capture market share, expand service & product offerings, and drive revenue & divisional profitability.
Delivering through a team of Finance Managers and Directors US HE profitability goals and maintain ultimate accountability for managing risk and ensuring appropriate controls in place.
Effectively articulate findings and outcomes high quality communications and facilitate executive decision making across engineering, sales & marketing, other executive leaders.
Create a positive inclusive work environment that maximizes individual and team performance by setting expectations, holding individual accountability, providing coaching/guidance to develop team members capabilities.
Professional Experience & Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance) is required. An MBA, CPA or other advanced degree/accounting qualification is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned and experienced financial professional.
This individual must be an agile thinker who can quickly grasp the differentiators of success and have her/his hands on the “levers of the business.” It is essential that candidates combine best-in-class financial expertise with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” mindset with a bias for action. While able to manage through a team, the VP Finance must be front and center in driving results.
Intelligent and highly analytical, the ideal candidate must be comfortable in a dynamic and transforming environment.
The successful candidate will be an astute financial strategist with a strong understanding of customer pricing, product costing, budgeting, capital spending, asset utilization and working capital management.
S/he will also have experience leading or coordinating significant elements of a strategic business plan.
