Pearson System Administrator in Trenton, New Jersey

LMS Administrator

The LMS (Learning Management System) Administrator will function as a member of Pearson's LMS team supporting Moodle and Blackboard. As a member of the team, you will manage daily LMS operations, provide technical support for LMS, conduct training for releases, and assist with implementation of CI/CD on servers within scheduled timelines.


  • Administrator for Moodle, Blackboard and supporting platforms

  • Serve as an IT (Information Technology) liaison with academic partners and cross-functional teams

  • Provide technical support and assistance to LMS users with various levels of roles and responsibilities (i.e., instructional designers, instructors, student support services)

  • Coordinate system enhancement, patching, upgrades, and testing with cross-functional teams and academic partners

  • Support System Administrator and infrastructure team with implementation of system configuration changes, patches, and upgrades

  • Create training, user guides, technical and process documentation

  • Conduct training with cross-functional teams and academic partners

  • Research and implement new plugins and integrations

  • Monitor LMS performance, system health, and create status reports

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent technology degree. 3+ years LMS administrator experience.

  • Experience with system administration and configuration of Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or similar learning management systems

  • Experience implementation and configuration of 3rd party integrations

  • Experience with reporting tools with ability to build and generate reports

  • Ability to create users, courses, activities, and configure settings

  • Ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and academic partners

  • Ability to provide support, guidance, and best practices

  • Proficient in ServiceNow or similar

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail troubleshooting applications

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Project management skills

Good to have:

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) experience & System Administration for Linux

  • Linux command line and server administration

  • MySQL Databases and ability to write custom SQL reports.

  • GIT/Bitbucket Version Control

  • JIRA/Confluence

  • xDebug and other troubleshooting tools

  • RHEL/Centos 7/8 servers

  • Apache Web Services

  • HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), JavaScript, PHP, Bash, Python or Java

  • PHP Composer
