Director, Editorial, Higher Education

SUMMARY

The Director, Editorial, leads and executes on Higher Ed’s product strategy to create transformative, market-responsive, and pedagogically-proven learning resources for Canadian educators and learners.

The Director directs the Portfolio Management team to actualize Pearson Canada’s long-term strategy, ensuring the pipeline supports growth and that new systems and processes are incorporated to enable success. The Director works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and with Pearson’s Legal team to support new product partnerships as well as author contract requirements.

As a key member of the HEd Leadership team, the Director works in partnership with Sales, Marketing, Digital Solutions, Project Management/Development, and Digital Studio, as well as US Editorial and Digital Product teams

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and lead product and business transformation strategy to ensure Pearson’s competitiveness and long-term success

  • Support team to ensure project proposals, development plans, and portfolio growth plans contribute to divisional strategy and goals

  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Development/Project Management, and Digital Studio to ensure achievement of short and long term goals

  • Work closely with U.S. and International publishing hubs to drive collaboration, innovation and growth

Qualifications

  • Completion of a university degree

  • Successful track record in Higher Education Product Acquisition, Marketing, or Sales

  • At least three years of successful team leadership / management experience

  • Successful track record in establishing and executing on product or sales strategy

  • History of successful project management including goal setting, managing budgets, and schedules, benchmarking and meeting critical deadlines

Skills/knowledge/abilities

  • Leadership skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented and strong ability to multitask

  • An astute approach to business with a clear focus on sales growth, profitability and total customer satisfaction

  • The ability to identify and seize market opportunities

  • A high level of stamina with the capacity to successfully work under pressure

  • High Proficiency with computers, data
