We are seeking a Software Development Manager that will grow and lead our innovative

technology platform engineering team. You will have a well-honed balance of technical, process and people skills plus the demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams.

Key Accountabilities:

The Software Development Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of software through the effective management of Developers, Platform Engineers and QA Engineers, whilst working in

collaboration and alignment with Product and Operations to deliver as one. This role will work alongside the Sydney leadership team with interface into our North American stakeholders.

You will lead and manage the software development teams on a day to day basis, with a focus on continually improving the team’s software engineering and delivery function by:

  • Enhancing our engineering capabilities and team culture

  • Translating and communicating the vision and mission of the product/platform into project/squad objectives, deliverables and communicates the same to the team(s)

  • Working closely with product and project teams in an agile environment in order to ensure engineering meets overall team goals

  • Taking ownership of the Agile Delivery metrics with responsibility for meeting these metrics

  • Proactively identifying issues and recommending/implementing actions to mitigate risks and improve delivery capability/timeliness

  • Managing, leading, coaching and mentoring members of the engineering teams

  • Driving best practices, thinking and philosophy across all engineering team members

  • Effectively integrating new hires, offshore teams and external developers over the coming months

  • Amplifying our team culture of taking initiative, delivering open and honest communication, being curious and a constant learner.


  • Tertiary qualifications in Technology (essential)

  • 10 years hands-on, software engineering experience

  • 4 years of experience leading, managing and growing engineering teams

  • Previous experience driving software engineering strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to work up, down and across a matrixed organisation

  • Solid grasp of building engineering culture

  • An attitude of ownership, accountability, responsibility, innovation and results

  • Hands on experience with various aspects of people leadership including; performance management, mentoring and coaching

  • Experienced with iterative / Agile software development as well as more traditional methodologies including Agile certifications (ideal)

  • Exposure to large scale, web-based SaaS systems development (ideal).


This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney.
