We are seeking two Frontend engineers that want to operate at the cutting edge of technology and push the boundaries of what web applications can be and do. As a member of the Studio team you will be creating amazing interactive experiences that make heavy use of graphics, animations and ultra-modern technologies. You will be designing and implementing highly customisable and sophisticated reusable components. You will be building and delivering incredibly rich learning experiences on Pearson global platforms.

As a Frontend Engineer, you will utilize your knowledge of HTML5, JS (ES6) and CSS, as well as new emerging technologies to build browser based learning simulations, games and interactions. You will need to bake in responsiveness, accessibility and performance. Your work will be viewed and consumed by millions of learners worldwide.

A sample of libraries, frameworks, tools and technologies you will make use of are: ReactJS/ Redux, styled-components/ Less, Jest/ Mocha, Backbone, GraphQL & Apollo, Webpack, Storybook.

Responsibilities include;

  • Build and deliver interactive browser-based learning experiences to a high level of polish

  • Collaborate with fellow Engineers to maintain high standard of code quality

  • Work closely with Product owners, UX/UI Designers, Learning Designers, and Project Managers throughout a project lifecycle

  • Contribute to a large variety of projects

  • Have a solutions based mindset to issues that arise.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field

  • Strong knowledge of CSS, HTML and Javascript

  • Passion for web development and an ability to work autonomously

  • Desire to learn new frameworks and technologies

  • Experience with at least one modern frontend framework (React, Vue, Angular, Ember, Svelte etc.)

  • Experience working in an agile environment, supported by JIRA

  • Experience with delivering production quality web applications at scale highly regarded

  • Experience with versioning systems (we use gitLab) highly regarded

  • Experience of frontend tooling (grunt/gulp/webpack.etc) highly regarded
