As a Senior Program Manager for Product and Technology at Pearson, you support the delivery of programs and projects for our Global Products. The role will involve driving cross-functional teams comprised of team members from UX design, engineering, quality, product management, etc. from ideation to successful deployment to our customers. Our projects have very tight and overlapping schedules to deliver key technology, features, and services. The position requires engagement with all levels within the business --as a facilitator, champion, and coach-- to plan, organize, track, and communicate. This position requires an energetic, experienced self-starter with a history of successful major programs or projects, and demonstration of an increased level of responsibility. Key to this role is to be proactive, organized, and analytical, while using strong business judgment and communication skills to interact with a variety of people. Plans, schedules, clear communication, as well as data-driven status monitoring, will ensuring interdepartmental completion of the product/program/project on schedule and within constraints of quality, schedule, and features.
Understand and assess critical paths and dependencies for delivering applications and services to our customers.
Facilitate discussions among project teams, product management and engineering.
Establish key milestones, plans and schedules to drive the accomplishment of milestones in timely manner.
Understand and coordinate the sequencing of projects to accomplish progress.
Aggregate, organize, and synthesize program and project information in order to clearly communicate with extended team and management.
Listen to customers (internal and external) to understand their scenarios and challenges.
Establish and maintain personal and organizational credibility with Customers and Partners through deep delivery knowledge and effective communications.
Define, collect, and measure the success of products/features through relevant metrics and KPIs.
Ensure projects and program are properly scoped and resourced, and that team members are engaged and informed of key responsibilities.
Regularly track project performance and identify areas for improved efficiency across the program.
Partner with the working teams to identify risks/opportunities proactively and surface recommendations and learnings.
Manage stakeholder communications and prioritize topics for executive engagement.
Prepare and present milestone reviews to upper-level management with input from project teams.
Coordinate all areas of the business in preparation for the release of new features, products, or services to customers.
7+ years of project or program management and leadership experience.
Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced, and performance-focused environments.
Experience in managing indirect teams to achieve common goals.
Ability to challenge and influence a variety of stakeholders.
Familiarity with UX, design and content production a plus.
Ability to work autonomously.
Attention to detail.
Experience with change management and leading organizational transformation.
Experience in project management on large-scale software development projects with teams working in multiple world-wide locations.
Experience leading teams using Agile frameworks such as SAFe, Scrum, and XP, as well as other established project management principles and practices.
Ability to adopt and adapt the right project management framework for a given project/program.
Ability to proactively identify and execute process improvements program-wide.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong emotional intelligence skills, and the ability to adapt approach to match different audiences.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - able to work on complex problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
