Pearson Senior Software Quality Analyst in San Antonio, Texas

Develop, execute & maintain manual & automated test plans supporting new & existing features of our product. Implement and provide guidance to other team members implementing software quality assurance testing techniques including, smoke, functional, regression, exploratory and integration testing in an agile driven team in order to meet testing software requirements. The Sr. QA will be responsible of managing complex projects and work under high levels of responsibility and autonomy in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative agile SDLC environment.

  • Make recommendations for functional application improvements to BA, Development, and QA.

  • Able to prioritize tasks according to importance and severity.

  • Adapt to unexpected changes/process improvements.

  • Resolve technical and non-technical issues with minimum supervision or assistance.

  • Conduct analysis and investigations in a prompt and efficient manner.

  • Develop test strategy plans and help tune and refine existing testing practices.

  • At times and when needed, able to work during regular off office hours.

  • Capable of testing Web based stand alone and mobile devices95-

  • Document and summarize tests results and report findings

  • Perform “as-needed” QA duties as assigned

  • Able to conduct front and back end testing

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $95-105K. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, MIS (Management Information Systems), or equivalent technology discipline

  • 10+ years designing, developing, and supporting business critical applications

  • 7 + years relevant experience working with CAWA applications, XML, and JSON

  • 7 + years relevant experience working with SQL and Non-SQL database systems

  • 5 + years relevant experience working with UNIX/Linux,

  • 7 + years relevant experience working with scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Perl, BASH)

  • Preferred experience working with Pearson centric tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins, ServiceNow.

  • Experience with Java based applications with a strong commitment to learn and grow ability as a Java language-based developer.

  • Experience in Requirement Analysis, Design, and Test Case preparation, Development, Testing, walk-throughs, and Defect Prevention Analysis

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability

  • Generate detailed, prompt, process-oriented documentation that describes the operation of the application accurately, concisely, and in a readable manner.

  • Proficient in analysis, Coding, Unit testing, and Defect tracking.

  • Experienced working in agile development environment

Training and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering required

  • 5-7 years' experience in Software Quality Assurance required

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or another relational database and query tools required

  • Experience with manual and automated testing in AWS (Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, EC2, Step Functions, Fargate, Docker, S3, etc.)

  • Proficient in PERL, Java, and Python programming language

  • Strong in Back-End testing in Unix/Linux environment

  • Proficient in SOAP and RESTful web services testing

  • Experience in testing tools such as qTest, JMeter, Load Runner, and Selenium

  • Agile, SCRUM, Six Sigma, or Lean driven SDLC experience is a must

  • Team player

  • Analytical thinker, detail oriented

  • Strong SQL knowledge

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • QA certifications preferred
