Position Overview

We’re looking for an experienced and talented Full Stack Engineer to join the team at Pearson. In this role, you’ll be working on various technologies in the data centers and the cloud. Also working with various business units, and applications to transform the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities including but not limited to driving projects to completion, planning, architecting, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proven solution design skills in a large enterprise or service provider during design, implementation and service phases

  • Recognized expertise in large complex solutions with aggressive uptime, performance and availability targets

  • Architect, design and implement solutions that will require AWS infrastructure and VMWare based infrastructure

  • Experience of architecting solutions leveraging Full Stack technology including but not limited to AWS, OpenStack, VMWare vCloud, and Azure

  • Demonstrated experience with running hybrid Cloud solutions (on-prem and AWS)

  • Analysis of applications to understand data flows, to migrate its functionality from on prem to the cloud

  • Lead and ensure success of testing of applications, software and services on AWS platforms

  • Design and troubleshoot enterprise networks (multi-data center and multi-Cloud providers)

  • Develop hybrid Cloud network solutions based on routing protocols and mesh Virtual Private Networks for connecting sites

  • Understand and translate on-prem firewall and load balancer technologies to AWS

  • Demonstrate experience in AWS networking of design and implementation

  • Proficient in both AWS infrastructure and on-premise legacy environments

  • Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in AWS

  • Collaboration with other Technology groups within the organization to successfully complete assigned projects

  • Support optimization of Pearson costs in the data centers and in the cloud

  • Build capability, competence and confidence with key business and technical stakeholders in region

  • Drive architectural standards and simplification as part of the virtual global architecture team

  • Proven thought leadership, stakeholder management, and inter-group collaboration leadership

  • Ability to engage, support and drive vendors, Proof Of Concepts, take part/lead RFPs, define requirement, analyze outputs and benefits/constraints and make recommendations

  • Detailed understanding of high availability and disaster recovery principles and design tenants

  • Can interpret technical designs into business requirements and talk logically about the relationships between multiple technologies

  • Deals well with ambiguous or undefined problems; ability to think abstractly and guide others

  • Comfortable performing requirements analysis, interfacing with stakeholders of various levels and documenting solutions

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to articulate technical topics to non-technical audiences both in writing, in diagrams and person

  • Energetic team player who works well across boundaries and readily adapts to change and enjoys rapid development

  • Confident of your skills, abilities and willing to share what you know, while learning from others

  • Is comfortable working autonomously

Minimum Qualifications

  • Coding abilities and Automation Mindset

  • 5 years building full-stack infrastructure solutions, architected and delivered using industry-leading best practices and technologies

  • 5 Experience with Agile concepts and practices.

  • 5 years of full-stack IT experience:

  • nix, Windows, hardware, network/firewall concepts, public cloud services, LDAP/Active Directory, DNS, automation tools (Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Docker)

  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise networking routing, load balancing, and firewall (Cisco, F5, and CheckPoints)

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (ALB, ELB, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM)

  • Advanced experience with various database technologies (NoSQL, SQL, Mongo, Cassandra) and AWS DB services (Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related quantitative field

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $130,000.00 – $150,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
