The Secondary Maths and Science team is a dedicated, fun, supportive and knowledgeable group of people who work creatively to produce a range of print and digital resources for Secondary school students and their teachers. The resources created by the team cover all teacher and learner needs, from mainstream programmes to intervention, and cover the full cycle of planning, teaching, and assessment. It’s a matrix team where people from multiple areas work together to create resources which really work in classrooms. In your team, you'll work with fellow product managers, editors/content specialists, content delivery managers, digital development and platform specialists, marketers, designers and a broad range of external suppliers.
We are looking for an energetic Product Manager who is passionate about maths and science education, a great team player, and bursting with ideas. You will manage existing successful series, and research, develop and deliver new projects, from start to finish. In this role you will be an entrepreneur within a large business, and your innovative, fast-thinking and proactive approach to opportunities will shine through.
In the role, you will be required to keep your finger on the pulse of the Schools market to identify emerging opportunities and gaps. With an excellent track-record of proven commercial success, you will come up with innovative new ideas, research and develop proposals, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic, market-winning products which meet customers’ needs on time, to budget and to the highest quality.
Alongside the development of new propositions, you will take responsibility for existing brands within the secondary portfolio, ensuring customer feedback is responded to, developments are timely and appropriate, ongoing sales and marketing plans are supported, and customer retention and revenue targets are met.
Our Successful Candidate
You’ll come with the ability to generate ideas, innovate, and drive forward projects coupled with a hunger for learning and new information, and an overall enthusiastic and positive attitude. We are looking for a demonstrable ability to deliver awesome, market-leading products which respond to customers’ precise needs and improve their lives. It would be an advantage to have experience in working with cross-functional teams to create and deliver commercially successful propositions to market which meet customer needs.
Key to success in this role is a strong eye for detail, coupled with the ability to see strategic ‘big picture’ trends and changes to identify attractive market segments and key sources of competitive advantage. You’ll bring a passion for data, and the ability to manipulate and use data to make decisions. We are looking for commercial and financial planning skills: the ability to independently manage costs and financially manage projects through their life cycle.
You’ll need excellent communication/presentation, relationship-building and influencing skills both within the company and with external stakeholders. It would be an advantage to have organisational and project management skills: the ability to plan and manage projects and budgets.
