The Accessibility Quality Assurance Engineer will report to the Accessibility Quality Assurance Manager and will be responsible for accessibility product evaluations, quality assurance testing with assistive technology, and tracking the status of issues reported on the accessibility of Pearson Assessments products.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Conduct accessibility product conformance evaluations for various Pearson exams, forms, websites or other products.

  2. Partner with colleagues with disabilities to complete paired assistive technology testing for various Pearson exams, forms, websites or other products.

  3. Conduct quality assurance testing with assistive technologies for various exams and products.

  4. Create Accessibility Issues Reports (AIR).

  5. Maintain documentation for tracking the accessibility of products.

  6. Work collaboratively with other Pearson employees to prioritize accessibility projects and maintain up-to-date accessibility records.

  7. Provide formal and informal accessibility training.

  8. Provide internal accessibility consulting services to product teams on the best practices for accessibility.

  9. Participate in efforts to refine business processes, including identifying gaps in processes and procedures that impact end-user experience or may represent potential business risk.

  10. Create or update Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR).

  11. Some travel required.

  12. Other duties as assigned.

  • Repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse)

  • Maintain emotional control under pressure

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is 80k. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or related technical certification or a minimum of three to five years of experience with quality assurance testing websites or software applications.

Certification(s) or Required Training

Ability to obtain the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) during the first 12 months of employment and the Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) certification in the first 24 months of employment.

Special Knowledge and Skills

  1. Working knowledge of international accessibility guidelines and standards, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and the Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) from the World Wide Web Consortium

  2. Demonstrated understanding of disability laws, regulations, and acommodation practices by other testing organizations educational institutions and businesses.

  3. Ability to work effectively in collaborative situations

  4. Ability to work with technical staff and interpret technical terminology as needed to complete projects

  5. Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage the acquisition of new skills as needed to meet job requirements

  6. Knowledge of access needs for people with disabilities in the context of high stakes assessments

  7. Advanced proficiency in the use of software programs related to office operations, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro or later, and Microsoft Planner

  8. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  9. Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little to no supervision

  10. Excellent organizational skills

  11. Keen attention to detail in all aspects of the job

  12. Perform all tasks with a sense of urgency​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Pearson Assessment products and services

  • Three years of experience with assistive technologies used by people who are blind or low vision as well as people with hearing, cognitive, physical, or communication impairments

  • Experience advising product development teams on accessible design

  • International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
