About the Team

The person who will take the role of Assistant Product Manager will join a highly collaborative and dynamic, global team of Product Managers working as English and Global Schools New Products & Solutions Team focused on learner-led digital product innovations. About the Role

Assistant Product Manager will work closely with New Products & Solutions Product Managers as well as Development Teams and providers and will help manage digital projects that embed new educational solutions and pedagogical capabilities. S/he will help project and programme manage digital projects in all stages of their product lifecycle from idea to build and implementation. Global collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management are foundational to success in this role. Thriving in an evolving environment, driving innovation and continuous improvement for efficiency and sustainable growth is key.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Help develop new digital products and solutions that meet Pearson English and Global Schools strategic business objectives by taking an active part in project & delivery management of digital projects designed to drive innovation in education

  • Coordinate multiple workstreams and oversee variable aspects of digital projects to ensure timely execution and delivery

  • Support the management of digital product backlog of features, bug fixes, and other activities needed to be delivered in order to achieve the defined outcome

  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders (especially Product Management, Engineering teams and vendors) to maintain project schedule and help implement project goals

  • Facilitate meetings (virtual and in-person) with multiple stakeholders to track the execution of tasks against the plans

  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the Product Manager responsible for the product and other stakeholders

  • Represent the Business/Product Management team, its objectives, goals and priorities in conversations with internal and external providers and vendors

  • Help oversee and coordinate digital content ingestion and quality assurance processes

  • Help capture, analyse and prioritise customers’ jobs to be done, needs and requirements and translate them into digital product features and capabilities

  • Help launch global products and services into relevant markets across the world

  • Take part in monitoring the operational performance, impact on learning, and commercial performance of the products


What qualifications and skills you need

  • Appropriate qualification (Technical, Engineering, Business or Management background will be preferred)

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English (C1)

  • Deep comprehension of the digital world and a genuine interest in digital innovations that have the potential to impact education and the ability to translate this into product strategies

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in digital project/product management, especially in:

  • project planning and implementation to prioritize work activities and accomplish project goals within set timeframes

  • project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and/or frameworks (e.g. PRINCE) with a proven success track record of working with software development teams

  • prioritisation methods and techniques

  • working with cross-functional global teams cooperating together to bring products to life

  • MS Office, project management (Smaftsheet or MS Project) and issue tracking software (e.g. Jira) Additional assets

  • Experience in programming and/or testing digital applications and/or working in Agile frameworks

  • English Language Teaching (or other educational) background and/or experience, particularly with ELT digital applications

  • Experience working with global, distributed, cross-functional teams Key skills you needed:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain prioritisation that blocks extraneous items from the product roadmap, ensuring that the product stays on track to achieve its strategic objectives

  • Proven track record of excellent collaborative and networking skills

  • Leadership and stakeholder management skills – ability to communicate objectives to constituent teams, delegate assignments/deliverables appropriately and trust teams to deliver

  • Comfortable with partial changing priorities that adjust to market trends and needs#LI-POST
