Pearson Senior Project Manager in Phoenix, Arizona

This position sits within our Work Force Skills (WFS) division, specifically in GED Testing Service, and reports to the Director of the Assessment.

The successful candidate will support the Assessment Services team in all areas of item development, test development, and project management.

*As our Senior Project Manager, you will:   *

  • Initiate, maintain, and monitor annual contracts, new agreements, invoices, and payments by working with GEDTS Legal, Finance, and Contractors

  • Coordinate and manage item bank activities such as implementation and maintenance

  • Establish, manage, and support project documents and processes for our internal team (e.g., process documents, training, and job aids)

  • Support the content leads with various aspects of item development, test construction, forms review, data review, and training

  • Manage permissions including yearly audits, accurate records, new requests/extensions, and communications with the WFS Permissions group and content leads to ensure all permissions are up to date and correct

  • Manage communication across the Assessment Services team as well as other business units, driving the execution of cross functional projects that require formal meetings, meeting agendas, and forward action items/plans.

  • Lead special projects by identifying scope, managing communication, and driving activities within and between departments until completion

  • Determine the necessity for and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders; record, distribute, and manage meeting decisions and action items/plans

  • Create and own project planning, requirements documentation, tracking, risk analysis, root cause analysis investigations, and preventative actions

  • Establish, manage, and execute tasks, schedules, and reports for internal and external stakeholders

  • Help to establish, and fully manage processes and materials for our external vendors/contractors (e.g., item/passage development, committees, special forms, SOWs/contracts, etc.)

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your requirements:

  • Education required : bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Experience required : Three or more years working in the assessment industry on complex assessment programs as a project manager or similar role

  • Skills required : Intermediate to advanced level skills with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project or SmartSheets

  • Skills required : Strong project planning, project execution, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage a variety of different projects and individuals and to adapt to unforeseen and unexpected requests or changes in priorities

  • Experience preferred : Two or more years working in the assessment industry as a content specialist, content manager, test development manager or similar role

  • Experience preferred : One or more years working with Coupa, ExamDeveloper, JIRA, item banks, and contracts

  • Proven ability to quickly learn complex processes and provide viable solutions

  • Proven ability to effectively and clearly communicate complex processes, both in writing and orally, to internal and external customers

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to accurately document and complete complex tasks

  • Proven ability to set priorities, schedules, and meet deadlines

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as a leader and as a team member

  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

Minimum full-time salary range is between $80,000 - $85,000.
