Your Opportunity

  • Digital Product Owner, Online Learning Services.

  • We are open to your UK location, however you’ll be required to attend regular meetings in London or Harlow office (interim work from home through Covid-19 restrictions).

  • Permanent & full-time working 37.5 hours per week.

  • Salary up to £50k depending on experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Digital Product Owner to join our innovative new online learning service that Pearson has launched in the UK. Working in partnership with leading UK universities across the country, our Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS) team provides online learning services including marketing, student recruitment, course content development, training and ongoing student support. As a start-up unit, every member of our team responds positively to breaking new ground and are willing to challenge current practice and to be challenged themselves.

Our digital platform, UK Learns, is a new personalised online search engine and marketplace to assist students to compare courses, enrol and succeed in their learning. The Digital Product Owner will be responsible for growing the UK Learns online experience by driving the product roadmap based on the strategic priorities developed for the function. They will drive experiences by carefully understanding the personalised needs of our learners. Partnering with developers, UI/UX designers and portfolio strategists, you’ll build better user experiences and ensure we deliver a successful platform that enables commercial products to be marketed and sold via the funnel.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver technical product roadmaps and build alignment across our cross-functional teams including: Product Development, Technology, Business Development, Marketing, Operations and Recruitment.

  • Support our wider teams with the technical delivery for UK Learns (Adobe Experience Manager), ecommerce (Shopify), CRM (Salesforce), marketing automation (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and all other system and data architecture integrations.

  • Manage and document the start-to-end digital product lifecycle of UK Learns initiatives and technologies. Implement best-in-class product development and management practices.

  • Rapidly iterate and evolve the product to meet a host of needs: growth in business unit, platform scalability, creating in-demand-now solutions, and simultaneously looking ahead for future user needs and capabilities.

  • Lead on prioritisation and scheduling of key features and releases.

  • Manage internal/external stakeholders and liaise with the business/technology teams and developers to ensure delivery on target.

  • Address technical planning and systems, managing daily risks and problem-solving on issues.

  • Collaborate on projects when needed, delivering large releases whilst ensuring a rapid pace of smaller improvements.

Our Successful Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Digital Product Owner with sound technical knowledge and the ability to coordinate multiple project teams in a fast-changing environment. Our successful candidate needs a deep understanding of technical architecture for complex and highly scalable web and mobile applications. You’ll demonstrate your skills in understanding technical concepts and simplifying/communicating these to non-technical audiences. We welcome entrepreneurial drive and innovative thinking to deliver scalable commercial products.

You’ll be ambitious and passionate about the success of our learning products, so you’ll need to influence decisions about technical features, functionality and user experiences, with the goal of increasing customer value. Key to success is commercial/business acumen, along with analytical, data, and troubleshooting skills. You’ll creatively solve problems by identifying real obstacles and delivering viable solutions. We are looking for creativity and excellent attention to detail. You’ll thrive working under pressure to meet business/project demands and respond with urgency to solve problems, communicating effectively with internal stakeholders (cross-functional professional/project teams) and external vendors.
