Pearson Functional/ UAT Tester - eCommerce in New York, New York

Position Purpose:

Pearson’s Global Digital Channels and Experience team is looking for a Functional/UAT Tester, eCommerce who will be responsible for overseeing the testing and quality of our e-Commerce storefront(s). S/he will be responsible for creating business testing strategy, test plans, and test cases in partnership with Product Managers, Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Managers and other stakeholders to check conformance to requirements. S/he will develop, execute & maintain manual & automated test plans supporting new & existing features of our product. S/he will implement and provide guidance to other team members implementing software quality assurance testing techniques including, smoke, functional, regression, exploratory and integration testing in an agile-driven team to meet testing software requirements. The person is to assist in defining QA coding standards and frameworks, and for identifying emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability to business goals.

This role requires a strong understanding of quality assurance procedures, meticulous attention to detail, proven ability to lead distributed teams and experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. The candidate is expected to have a strong knowledge of eCommerce best practices, industry trends and actively contribute to building a world-class, consumer grade eCommerce experience for Pearson.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review business requirements and create appropriate test strategy, plans and use cases aligned with the requirements

  • Review and re-evaluate the test strategy/plan based on new information, risks, evolving priorities and schedules

  • Drive end-to-end testing of feature functionality and user experience

  • Oversee quality review of various business-critical applications

  • Lead implementation and execution of functional, regression and user acceptance tests

  • Assist in test environment setup/teardown, test automation, and exploratory testing

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of test data and test documentation

  • Provide suitable solutions for issues/errors mitigation to the Engineering team based on a robust understanding of the system and business processes

  • Monitor efforts to resolve product issues and track progress

  • Ensure that the final product satisfies the product requirements and meet end-user expectations

  • Collaborate with Test Engineers and share knowledge with QA colleagues to help scale QA operations

  • Coach junior staff and provide feedback on testing-related tasks. Delegate and assign testing responsibilities

  • Formulate quality assurance standards and best practices aligned with organizational policies and strategic plans

Must Have Attributes:

  • 3+ years in Quality Assurance Testing, or similar role in Software, SaaS or Technology related industries

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • Experience in testing various applications, services, and user experience

  • Experience in test automation and creating repeatable, maintainable, automated test suites

  • Capable of testing eCommerce experiences on web and mobile devices

  • Document and summarize tests results and report findings

  • Able to conduct variety of testing (front-end, back-end, system integration, mobile, and accessibility)

  • Proven ability to collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design and Business teams to drive desired outcomes

  • Strong understanding of eCommerce system architecture and in-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles

  • Proven ability to effectively manage key stakeholders at all levels to communicate test plans and results

  • Strong experience with SQL, JIRA, Confluence and roadmap planning tools (like Aha!) is strongly desired, along with a robust understanding of Agile scrum, SDLC methodologies and eCommerce and content management platforms (Hybris & AEM)

  • Ideas driven: You have the capacity to be open to new ideas, ambiguity and comfortable exploring areas with little oversight where there are no right answers
