Pearson Network Operations Engineer in Mexico City, Mexico

The Network Operations Engineer is responsible for overseeing incident response, outage mitigation, oversight of automation tasks, and supporting network operational health improvements. We are looking for candidates with a passion to influence others while collaborating with cross functional teams in managing overall network availability for everyone at Pearson.
Position Title : Network Operations Engineer
Schedule: 08:00 a 17:00 Central Time, Monday to Friday (some on-call support required)
Work Location : Antonio Dovali Jaime No 70, Col. Zedec Santa Fe, Ciudad de México (Working from home and might be required to go in the office at least once a week)
Primary Responsibilities
Support infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless, optical connections and firewalls deployed in our campus networks
Monitor the performance and status of the network and security appliances
Interface with vendor support for release, maintenance, incidents
Interface to Service Operations & Control for compliance and execution of global processes
Establish and maintain standards by supplying functional documentation, including diagramming, for cross training and support purposes as directed
Apply security updates
Manage and report on uptime, availability, MTTR, major and minor incidents and root causes
What do you need to bring to the role?
Good working knowledge of operations best practices and processes - incident, change, problem, release
Previous engagements with large program teams, service transition and acceptance
Experience of working in a globally distributed organization
Required Skills & Experience
2 years experience managing and troubleshooting network and security appliances (i.e. Cisco IOS, Meraki, Fortinet, Cisco ASA) in a global, enterprise environment
2 years experience with monitoring tools (i.e. SolarWinds, Paessler PRTG, WhatsUp Gold, etc.)

Educational & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field or have equivalent proven industry experience.
CCNA certification required
