Our team: Virtual Learning - Pearson Online Learning Services Australia (POLS) partners with leading Australian Universities and assists them to acquire and retain students for online programs.

The role: The Senior Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing and the delivery of all projects and initiatives within Pearson Online Learning services Australia (POLs). This role will report to the Head of Technology and Project Management (POLs) and will apply their expertise in people and project management to ensure that activities within POLs are coordinated effectively and consistently.

This role is responsible for the overall coherence and integrity of the project management governance and associated activities that occur within POLs. They will evolve and maintain the programme environment to support each project and initiative within it whilst seeking opportunities to optimize productivity and nurture project success from inception to completion. In addition to managing the Project Managers within the projects team this role is responsible for supporting and mentoring the wider POLS team in project methodology to ensure a consistent approach to project management across the business.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for working with the Head of Technology and Project Management and the Senior Management team to create and operationalise a detailed activity roadmaps and project plans showing all project related activities and deliverables. This will include contributing to resource and staffing allocation discussions, risk management, providing regular reporting on activity, preparing project reports for internal and external needs, and participating in client project meetings.

What you will do:

  • Monitor project timelines and budgets, report internally to Pearson management team on compliance with both, including coordinating reporting to partner/alliance project management as appropriate.

  • Managing project interdependencies and priorities, specifically resourcing across Pearson online learning services projects

  • Oversight and management of problem discernment and resolution processes, and coordinate the identification of problem resolution and solution design for appropriate projects

  • Work with relevant management staff to ensure that project resourcing and internal staffing are appropriately allocated

  • Prepare external facing project status reports for clients in accordance with Pearson standards

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Extensive experience managing projects (ideally in the post-compulsory education sector).

  • A diploma or higher qualification in project management. Equivalent years of successful work experience in Project Management will be considered.

  • Excellent writing, communication, leadership & commercial acumen skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of different project management methodologies and principles, including both waterfall and Agile methods.

  • Strong analytical, logic and problem –solving skills for analysing and identifying issues and proposing solutions.

  • Ability to transform complex bodies of information into professionally designed and effective reports and dashboards.

  • Strong ability to manage multiple, complex projects within (sometimes aggressive) timeframes, to multi-task and continually prioritise changing project tasks / deliverables and meet deadlines.
