The Scrum Master will lead an internal team, and work with development partners, to deliver new Pearson digital products, and enhance existing products as per digital product strategy and roadmaps.

The role includes managing Scrum teams through Agile based Software development, co-management of product backlogs, management of cross functional technical projects, and ad hoc coaching on Agile processes. The Scrum master will be able to interact with teams at a technical level, and may also have some hands on software development experience.

A typical day:

  • Work with product, business stakeholders, UX and multiple technical teams to develop Pearson products and solutions

  • Facilitate requirements gathering, backlog grooming and prioritisation, as well as team alignment on acceptance criteria and definition of done.

  • Organize and execute software team training, mentoring and Agile Sprint Ceremonies

  • Work with Jira to manage backlogs and daily team activities

  • Software release management.

  • Work with internal and third party software parties to integrate with Corporate systems

  • Support continuous builds and integration environments


  • Experience driving product and technical teams through Agile product development practices.

  • Solid, practical understanding of UX principles.

  • Development or testing experience is preferred

  • Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams

  • Experience applying Agile methodologies (i.e. Scrum, Kanban) to product development

  • Exemplifying and advocating for Agile values and principles

  • Adept at refinement, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques

  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, coaching, and stakeholder management skills

  • Scrum Master Certification is preferred but not essential
