ROLE: VP of Product Management Academy of Pop

LOCATION: Los Angeles

REPORTING TO: Project Director

The Academy of Populate Performing Arts (Academy of Pop) will offer a new transformative approach to teaching the Performing Arts, which combines inspiring and accessible learning programs with fun and engaging entertainment values. Providing innovative new ways in which the ability and effort of performers of all standards can be shared, recognized and rewarded, Academy of Pop will inspire the world to perform.


  • Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to successfully shape and take new product offerings to market.

  • Build the customer value proposition, realize it through the product and platform strategy, and establish the learner engagement models to support the digital roll out of AOP.

  • Ensure that the identification, incubation, and execution of innovative product ideas are informed by on-going dialog with customers, customer experience, and positioned to deliver best in class learner and user experience.

  • Lead the commissioning and synthesizing of market research activities and data to strategize new product opportunities and effectively take new products to market.

  • Articulate and evolve the product value proposition based on ongoing analysis of market research, competitive intelligence, user feedback, and sound investment justification

  • Ensure effective management of the entire product life cycle including ideation, product proposal and approval, prototyping and validating new features/products and ideas, and commercialization.

  • Work with the Academy’s management and teachers to shape content development and ensure newly developed content is high quality, aligned to the product roadmap, and meets customer needs.

  • Work closely with software development teams internally / externally to build out the product road map and ensure high quality delivery.

  • Ensure alignment with key stakeholders on product development plan and communicate ongoing progress.

  • Build out a product management team to support the overall product road map and attract and retain top product management talent.


  • 5-7+ years of experience in Product Management, including 5 years in a leadership role

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully bringing a new product to market

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high energy start up

  • Capable of leading efforts from design to implementation to ensure customers and their needs are well understood and communicated so that the customer experience plays a central role in product/service definition, design, development, implementation, and evaluation

  • Experience collaborating on the development of product roadmaps which feed into company strategy, including detailed technological implementations

  • Skilled at building a strong support base for ideas internally

  • Ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter with demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

  • Experience setting short- and long-range success metrics and managing to these metrics from a strategic and financial perspective

  • Outstanding writing and presentation skills

  • High level of comfort with ambiguity and working with an uncertain creative development process.

  • Passionate about learning and the arts
