About the job
The position is for a Solution Architect, who is responsible the design of architectural solutions and plans for various transformation projects. Currently we are in the middle of a large programme to transform a legacy estate to AWS, and so designs are focused on this, although there will be other projects coming along with a broader outlook, so being adaptable and open to learning new skills is essential.
This involves working with developers, project managers and SMEs to come up with the optimal design pattern for each project, as well as ongoing governance reviews to ensure that designs are being adhered to.
There will also be attendance to various senior stakeholder meetings to present and explain why designs have been chosen, so good communication & planning skills are essential, with the ability to put things into non-technical terms for the wider audience.
This would suit a senior solution architect, with a background in complex designs around transformation from legacy to cloud preferably, and who is looking to work on fast moving projects. A proven track record in delivering projects is required.
Hours will be standard Mon-Fri 8am till 4.30pm. Weekends are not usually required
Work will generally be remote, although there will be a need to attend 80 Strand in London periodically once the Covid situation is improved.
AWS Certification in Architecting Pref. Professional – Required
AWS Aurora, API Gateway, Batch, DMS, Dynamo, Endpoints, Fargate, Lambda, Load Balancing, S3, SNS/SQS, VPC and subnet - Good conceptual design knowledge
AWS OpenSearch, Storage gateway – Knowledge desirable
MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle – Good understanding
Business Intelligence\Data Warehousing – Good conceptual design knowledge
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery - Good conceptual design knowledge
Change Data Capture experience - Good conceptual knowledge
CI/CD – Good conceptual knowledge of pipelines Excellent Communication & Planning - Required
Microservice event driven serverless architecture design experience – Required
Terraform\Jenkins - Desirable
Teams and other Microsoft office apps
