Role Overview

The Regional Development Manager as part of our High Stakes English Assessment team focuses on our largest product, the PTE Academic test. As we seek to expand our Language Testing services significantly over the next 5 years, this role plays a key part in shaping and executing the strategic priorities of our business. The role has a truly international outlook, dealing with both internal and external stakeholders across the world.

High Level Responsibilities

Market Development

  • Working with identified geographies to:

o Understand nature, size and segmentation of market opportunity

o Identification of a strategic approach to implement PTE Academic in the market, including defining and engaging key stakeholders

o Identify marketing and promotional activities needed and coordinating with central and local marketing and product teams in the development of go to market plans including the PTE ecosystem

o Establish operational and strategic plans to develop their market

o Provide input on forecasts and channel needs and support

  • Accountable for PTE targets in the region (shared with geo)

  • Implement market development plans in each geo, supporting and leading local team however much required (and depending on skills and experience on the ground)

  • Support and advise geo leads on plans for PTE in their geos

  • Identify collaborative opportunities for geos to provide services to each other in growing PTE.

  • Support with Government relations and other stakeholder engagement in geo as needed.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate partnerships to support growth of PTE in each geo

  • Support the assessment, scoping and delivery of ad-hoc or discrete projects and opportunities which require expert input.

  • Maintaining a strong understanding of operational risks in developing geographies, ensuring that they are effectively communicated to key internal stakeholders

Recognition

  • Provide product and recognition training in nominated market. Support markets based on geo priorities & market development priorities.

  • Actively support initiatives to gain recognition by government and immigration authorities as needed, including building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, gathering and interpreting market intelligence and managing projects as needed.

  • Representing English Assessment as the developers of PTE Academic at key conferences and where geographies establish the need for expert support in their engagement with key stakeholders.

Product & Competition

  • Utilising product and operational expertise to advise and train those geographies in the characteristics of the product, the PTE Academic operating model and its operationalisation

  • Maintaining an in depth and up to date understanding of nominated market and competitor activities and dynamics, Pearson is an equal opportunities employer. Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to work comfortably with budget, revenue and cost figures

  • Project management capability

  • Experience in international higher education in a sales consultancy or operational capacity

  • Experience in a similar or complementary role – essential

  • Experience in language assessment

  • Marketing experience - desired

  • Knowledge of international migration

  • Degree qualified

  • Personal profile

o Strong organisational skills

o Ability to communicate (oral and written) with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority

o Commitment to a collaborative working environment

o Comfortable with a matrix organisational
