Summary of role:
To support Pearson financial communications globally with investors and other financial stakeholders on behalf of the Board and Executives reporting to the VP, Investor Relations.
The role is based in 80 Strand, London
Financial events – planning and execution
Be agile and flexible, willing to perform varying duties depending on the shifting needs of the SVP IR and their stakeholders
Modelling KPIs and financials of the business in a way that reflects analyst thinking
Proactive, engaged and real time communication with business and analysts.
Support the planning and execution of Financial events – results, trading statements, major transactions, investor presentations & roadshows
Data gathering, verification and communication of key stories in press releases and presentations
Work in partnership with the Head of Corporate Communications, regarding planning and development of our next investor day(s)
Write high quality Board reports and external communications that need little rewriting
Support the development of the Annual Report
Work closely with the company secretary on AGM and governance interaction
IR external communication
Proactive gathering of consensus data influencing and driving analyst behavior to ensure the business has what it needs at all times track and manage Investment Bank analyst estimates. Own the Consensus Dashboard spreadsheet.
Track shareholder register changes monthly
Maintain and improve the IR section of Pearson.com
Internal IR partners
Co-ordinate with employee and financial communications teams on set piece results and day to day news flow
Co-ordinate with finance department on the results packs and analysis
Track competitor news and industry data and provide insight (results summaries etc), in conjunction with Insight team to the rest of Pearson.
Help draft the IR & Media weekly and Board reports.
Help with roadshow targeting of financial institutions

Qualifications and experience required: Most likely with a finance background – though not necessarily a finance qualification you will be adept at analysis and drawing accurate data driven conclusions.
Experience working in a public FTSE 250 or above
Strong understanding of materiality and ability to prioritise across competing agendas
Suitable accounting knowledge
An understanding of putting internal financial results into an external market context.
Awareness of multiple business models and experience of working with more than one.
Understanding of finance specialist areas: tax, treasury, M&A, compliance, corporate governance and ability to utilise proper judgement to involve them as necessary.
Strong analytical skills and learning agility
Good interpersonal skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience in managing different stakeholders
Good understanding of Pearson strategy
Excellent organisational skills
Willingness to perform all necessary tasks to a tight deadline
