Your Opportunity

  • Head of Partnership, King’s College London.

  • This position will be hired/employed by Pearson.

  • We are open to your UK location, however you’ll be required to attend regular meetings in London or Harlow office (interim work from home through Covid-19 restrictions).

  • Permanent & full-time working 37.5 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Partnership to join an innovative new online learning service launched by Pearson in the UK. The division, Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS), provides a full range of services including marketing, student recruitment, ongoing student support and operational management, on a white-label basis to universities across the country through long term partnership agreements. This role has 3 main areas of responsibility, working specifically on the King’s College London Partnership:

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and manage strong stakeholder relationships within the university, particularly with key academic leadership for each of the Partnership’s existing courses and professional services decision makers across our shared operations.

  • Establish regular communication with stakeholders at the university to ensure that all aspects of the ‘business as usual’ operations are functioning successfully within the university.

  • Establish position of Trusted Advisor and Influencer across academic and operational decision makers to ensure decision making is student focused, commercially informed, and mutual.

Partnership Growth Through Operational Excellence

  • Work collaboratively with the Commercial Operations team to support achievement of targeted annual revenue from enrolment, progression, and graduation rates through holding operational teams to account on both sides of the partnership.

  • Identify opportunities to optimise the performance and revenue potential of the existing portfolio of programmes.

  • Oversee and support launch activity to ensure newly signed programmes are put into market on time and with the expected and agreed upon proposition.

  • Secure sufficient operational resources within the university to support partnership growth

Operational Service Delivery

  • Provide leadership and direction for operational improvement work across the Partnership, including the redevelopment of systems and processes, to ensure the delivery of a world leading student experience for online cohorts.

  • Drive the build of new operational infrastructures to support future exponential growth in activity.

  • Ensure clarification of roles and responsibilities with clear establishment of ways of working and accountabilities throughout the Partnership.

  • Operate as a matrix leader with POLS functional teams to enable delivery of world-class research, marketing, student recruitment, and student support and retention services to the partnership.

  • Collaborate with POLS functional leaders to ensure the university’s requirements, operational challenges and service offerings are clearly understood and integrated into delivery plans.

  • Support POLS functional leaders in forming stakeholder relationships with their university counterparts to ensure that effective integration and service delivery between teams is in place.

Your Key Objectives

  • Support and facilitate achievement of target annual revenue from enrolment, progression, and graduation rates in online programmes.

  • Develop and implement a plan to optimise the performance and revenue potential of the in-market portfolio of programmes, including measures to provide remediation to any existing operational processes or ways of working impeding our ability to meet targets.

  • Work closely with King’s online operational leads. Ensure that agreement is reached to address key operational priorities for business as usual activity with King’s stakeholders. Provide leadership to internal teams to drive actions from these meetings.

  • Serve as an escalation point for operational issues related to our functional areas.

  • Build a plan to develop and manage strong stakeholder relationships within the university, particularly with key academic leadership for each of the Partnership’s existing courses and professional services decision makers across our shared operations.

Our Successful Candidate

We are looking to appoint a confident leader with excellent communication, networking and influencing skills, to partner effectively with key (internal and external) stakeholders across various levels of seniority. Key to success is working effectively with Pearson colleagues across different geographic locations within a matrix structure. You’ll demonstrate your expertise in relationship building with external stakeholders: in particular with academic and commercial partners, customers, employers, professional bodies and government agencies.

You’ll bring impressive experience working in UK Higher Education at management level and demonstrate your knowledge of UK University operations. This position requires clear commercial/business acumen to effectively service our university partnership and develop the success of our portfolio/services. You’ll be measuring our current operations and processes, identifying and implementing key improvements to effectively support scale and business growth.
