Pearson Delivery and Innovations Manager in London, United Kingdom

Role Grade: C1

Role Location: This is a remote working position with a reporting line to our London office. Travel for face-to-face team meetings and other meetings will be required on an ad hoc basis. This role reports to the Head of Schools Tutoring for three days a week.

Contract: This is 6 month fixed term contract and a part time role to be worked over 3 days per week (22.5 hours).

As an Approved Partner of the government’s National Tutoring Programme, Pearson's Schools Tutoring the business commenced in 2020-21 to make high-quality online tuition available to state-maintained primary and secondary schools to provide additional support to help pupils who have missed out the most because of the impact of the Covid Pandemic.

In response to the success of the service and a changing funding landscape, Pearson launched its own Direct to Schools Online Tutoring offering in 2021/22.

Purpose:

The Delivery and Innovations Manager will be accountable for scoping new business opportunities and developing partnership relationships for delivery of the tutoring service. This person will have a thorough understanding of the Programme key success criteria and the operational factors and systems that could impact delivery. As a member of our Tutoring team, you will be required to understand trends in school behaviour and develop winning service proposals and have responsibility for project P&Ls, delivering against revenue and profit targets.

Key accountabilities

  • Research and propose, and where approved manage development of enhancements to Tutoring platform.

  • Research and propose, and where approved manage development of extension of tutoring to new markets, such as Scotland, Wales, NI, and International, hospital and other special schools, private sector education including businesses.

  • Research and propose, and where approved manage development of extensions to tutoring such as using online assessment platforms to deliver tutoring assessments, especially pre- and post-tests.

  • Research and propose, and where approved manage delivery of extensions and enhancements to Pearson Tutoring Content, including current subject areas and new subject areas, and new methods of sharing content with Pearson Tutors.

  • Research and propose, and where approved manage delivery of special projects such as trials of tablets and headphones in schools.

  • Collate product innovation suggestions from Core team, other Product teams, Partners, Schools, and Tutors, and where Tutoring leadership approve, research, propose, and if approved manage delivery of the selected innovations.

  • Manage development of Management Information systems, including forecasting models for sales, delivery, revenue, and costs – this will include working with team to identify and specify requirements, and schedule delivery of requirements.

  • Run and track regular progress meetings with other Pearson Teams involved in Tutoring, including Customer Services, Sales, and Marketing.

  • Until Automated Management Information Systems are in place, report data for SMT, including working with other Teams (STET and Sales) to agree and report on KPIs.

  • Work with team members to develop cost modelling based on activities.

  • Manage relationship with the government’s Programme Manager (currently Randstad), including Pearson commitments, Pearson Requirements, data delivery, governance, and contract review.

  • Support team processes, including review of how processes interact with systems such as order processing, Oracle, and where necessary work with other Pearson teams to change/enhance processes.

Collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management are foundational to success in this role. Thriving in an evolving environment, working to drive innovation, and embedding industry best practice to drive sustainable growth is key. Experience in supporting digital technology environments is strongly preferred.
