Working in partnership with universities across the country, the POLS team provide online learning services including marketing, student recruitment, course content development, training and ongoing student support.

About the job

As the Content Marketing Executive, you would play an important part in maintaining the integrity of our university partners’ brand and elevating the experience of our customers.

You would be responsible for developing engaging content for multi-channel marketing and communication activities globally, across multiple university partnerships. Content developed by the Content Marketing team brings the communications throughout our customers’ lifecycle to life, with a strong focus on lead generation and lead conversion stages.

As a Content Marketing Executive, you will be working in a matrix structure with the opportunity to work across a number of internal functions including Marketing, Research, Recruitment, Student Services and with external stakeholders. Reporting to the Content Marketing Manager, you will support the development and execution of all elements of partner-specific content plans, including research, copy-writing and asset production. You will also support in external agency relationship management and work closely with the Content & SEO Strategist in the roll out and production of their plans.

Key responsibilities:

Content planning

  • As the Content Marketing Executive, you will be working closely with Partnership Marketing Managers and Content & SEO Strategists within the team to deliver on the content plan for each programme

  • Work with the Content & SEO Strategist and Web & SEO Manager to action points from SEO and web audits for each programme

  • Use existing market research insight and conduct desk research to identify trends and best practice in order to develop audience-relevant and impactful content

  • Execute any link-building strategies created by the Content & SEO Strategist

Content production

  • Answer briefs sent in by various Marketing stakeholders and/or other stakeholders within the broader POLS team

  • Develop messaging and content pieces aligned with targeted audiences, personas, brand TOV and the customer journey

  • Manage the end-to-end planning and production process for on- and offline marketing assets alongside Partnership Marketing Managers and other Content Team members

  • Deliver best in class marketing content assets across mediums such as web, social media, email, virtual events and online advertising platforms, to increase product awareness and generate quality leads for our University partnerships

  • Copy-write for a variety of assets such as nurture emails, blog posts, leaflets and other required assets across several lead generation, conversion and retention stages

  • Develop creative briefs to instruct agencies in the development of marketing campaign concepts and tool-kits, or individual add-on assets such as a video or infographics when required

  • Create and manage content production schedules to ensure all assets are delivered on time and to budget

Content distribution & reporting

  • Support Partnership Marketing Managers, Content & SEO Strategists and other internal teams in ensuring the content is fit for purpose, delivers on the objective and is suitable for the intended distribution channel

  • Pull relevant data from various dashboards and sources relating to the performance of different individual content assets. Take responsibility for the performance of individual assets and add contributions to the monthly organic report

SEO & research planning

  • To conduct long-tail keyword research based off the research conducted by the Content & SEO Strategist where necessary for existing programmes, to help inform content production

  • To conduct additional media landscape and competitor research where necessary, to help inform content production

  • To pull data on keyword rankings and organic traffic from various dashboards and sources, and add contributions to the monthly organic report


  • Work with the Partnership Marketing Managers and Content & SEO Strategists to recommend content formats and themes to feature based on identified core channels and opportunities

  • To manage key internal stakeholder relationships, mainly between the Web & SEO Team, the Content Team and Partnership Marketing Managers

About you


  • An undergraduate degree in marketing, journalism, communications or other relevant qualification

  • Demonstrable experience in content creation, including experience in copywriting (print and digital), commissioning video production, creation of design assets and agency management

  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills

  • Ability to analyse performance data and track costs against budget

  • Ability to operate in fast-paced environment and manage a number of campaigns simultaneously

  • Outstanding project/time management


  • Higher education or student recruitment marketing experience

  • Experience in using email platforms such as Pardot or Marketing Cloud

  • Experience in other software such as Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience in managing social media business accounts including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram

  • Experience with CMS such as Adobe, WordPress, Squarespace and others is desirable

  • Knowledge of SEO best practice

  • Knowledge of Google Analytics
