Position Summary

We are seeking a Product Owner on the Curriculum team who will serve as a liaison between the product team and other functional teams to facilitate curriculum development. This role directly interfaces with curriculum product management, curriculum development, learning design, editorial, and quality assurance to represent the voice of the customer/learner and is responsible for defining, documenting and clearly articulating requirements via user stories to the delivery team.

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum Product Management, the Product Owner will use a high level of curriculum and product knowledge, and critical thinking to prioritize user stories and development, and ensure successful communication and implementation of all agreed-upon initiatives and their outcomes. It is ideal if the Product Owner is experienced in Agile Software Development practices (Scaled Agile Framework® preferred) as they will be part of the implementation of those practices within the Curriculum Product team.


  1. Collaborate with product management in the creation of features and lead the creation of user stories (including nonfunctional requirements and acceptance criteria) to seed the product backlog, enable the grooming process, and inform curriculum development by functional groups

  2. Prioritize and refine backlog and work with product management to develop the product

  3. Act as subject matter expert for assigned area, performing the role of product owner on an agile team. Represent the voice of the customer by developing deep expertise and empathy for the customers and learners that use our curriculum, services, and software products

  4. Communicate in an effective, timely and efficient manner with business owners and the agile curriculum delivery team, ensuring the successful delivery of curriculum during each iteration

  5. Develop rapport and trust with business owners and key stakeholders, including solution product management, curriculum product management, and product delivery

  6. Demonstrate work at the end of each iteration to key stakeholders and assist in authoring supporting documentation for delivered features

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in a curriculum development or a Product Owner role, preferably in an agile development environment with a working knowledge of the methodology, user stories, and iterative development

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts throughout the entire life cycle of a curriculum product

  • Excellent time management skills including the prioritization of tasks and controlling scope

  • Ability to reconcile key stakeholder interests, conflicting priorities, and business strategy and influence without formal management authority

  • Passion for education and experience working in an educational environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in K-12 or Higher Ed online education industry
