The Sr. System Administrator will function as a member of the Pearson's DevOps team to manage hosted Learning Management Systems. As a member of the team, you will manage daily LMS operations, engage with cross functional teams, manage continuous delivery of system patches, perform system upgrades, and deliver new LMS installations on servers within scheduled timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • AWS systems and server admin for Linux

  • Manage Moodle and Blackboard LMS

  • Manage SSO Identity Providers (SAML, Shibboleth, LDAP, CAS,OAuth)

  • Manage and Support Infrastructure

  • Manage DNS and SSL

  • Troubleshoot issues and outages.

  • Monitor performance and maintain systems.

  • Implementation of new LMS instances and releases.

  • Coordinate systems testing with security operations.

  • Provide technical support and assistance to LMS users with various levels of roles and responsibilities (i.e., instructional designers, instructors, student support services).

  • Research extensions and enhancements.

  • Conduct 3rd party integrations and testing.

  • Maintain technical documentation, and IT manuals.

  • Document technical issues and procedures.

  • Create system monitoring reports.

  • Serve as an IT liaison with Institutions, Help Desk, LMS Manager and Development Team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent technology degree. 7 years LMS administrator experience.

Linux command line and server administration

RHEL/Centos 7/8 servers

Moodle and Blackboard

PHP, Bash, Python or Java coding experience a plus

PHP Composer

MySQL Databases and ability to write SQL reports.

Apache Web Services

GIT/Bitbucket Version Control

JIRA/Confluence

xDebug and other troubleshooting tools

Mobile application store support a plus
