Pearson Senior Marketing Content Specialist (Remote) in Hoboken, New Jersey

As a Senior Content Specialist reporting to the Director of Content & Instructional Design, you’ll join a team of nearly 30 creative minds from across the country who’ve been working as an effective virtual crew for years. Together, we oversee the concepting, content development, and design of Higher Education Marketing campaigns in the US market. We create valuable content for instructors and learners, helping them make confident purchase decisions and enhancing their educational journeys.

You see writing as content design: both art and science. Marrying campaign objectives with form and function to write persuasive, inclusive copy thrills you. You’re a natural storyteller, bringing products and brand to life within personalized touchpoints that include emails, web pages, blog posts, video scripts, infographics, case studies, flyers, ads, interactive content, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead writer for campaigns, work with minimal supervision on small projects, and provide a cohesive voice for omni-channel campaigns, ensuring our message is consistent and compelling throughout the customer journey.

  • Provide a creative spark and brainstorm new, innovative, and competitive campaign concepts and marketing solutions where others see limitations.

  • Collaborate with designers to develop meaningful, human, elegant, and inclusive user experiences aligned to campaign objectives.

  • Analyze performance data and adapt quickly, optimizing and personalizing content to improve its effectiveness.

  • Connect with product and campaign teams to gain a thorough understanding of the market, key personas, competitive product benefits, and marketing objectives to write consistent, targeted, and compelling marketing copy.

  • Guide and mentor junior colleagues on content best practices.

  • Build trust and develop strong working relationships, listening to internal stakeholders and our customers to uncover the heart of a story, bring our brand to life, and demonstrate how we impact learners.

  • Unify information from multiple sources to solve complex problems, proposing and implement workflow efficiencies and transforming creative briefs into focused, compelling content for marketing assets.

  • Promote content via short-form media and capture a reader’s attention in copy for videos, social media posts, and digital ads in various formats.

  • Edit and improve draft content by proofreading for grammar, spelling, accuracy, and house style; ensuring consistency in message, voice, and brand; and revising for SEO as needed

  • Assist with the creation of site maps and content migration for larger web projects.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience writing for email, web, videos, interactive content and other communications in content marketing, advertising, public relations, or related fields. Experience in education market a plus.

  • Understanding of responsive web design, user experience SEO, and accessibility best practices.

  • Positive attitude and collaborative nature. Be open to critique of your work and able to provide constructive criticism for colleagues, as well.

  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and collaborative editing skills.

  • Self-starter and highly detail-oriented, with the organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, reliably deliver on deadlines, and shift priorities according to business needs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft OneDrive, MS Teams, and project management applications such as Workzone a plus.
