Pearson Production Project Manager in Hoboken, New Jersey

The Digital Producer(Production Project Manager) is the key owner and liaison through all functional areas of project management, and engages on projects through content planning, content creation, author management/relations, production, rights and permissions, customer acceptance and archive. The Digital Producer executes on the delivery of all assigned program components and project tasks over the entire program lifecycle (initiate, plan, build, execute, control, release). The Digital Producer is accountable to deliver high quality, commercially successful digital programs on time and within budget.

The Candidate: You are a digital project manager and producer capable of working effectively under multiple simultaneous deadlines with a variety of team members and vendors. You are comfortable determining and communicating risks during production. You are an agile problem solver, ready to propose solutions to any issues uncovered. You are flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude when operating in an environment of continual flux.

As a core member of the Science Media team, you will be expected to work autonomously and deliver on project phases on time and on budget. We will help you achieve your goals by continuous professional development and regular progression sessions. You will work with teams that are located in several global locations and thus may work off hours from time to time to accommodate other teams working hours.



Project Management

  • Oversee development of digital learning products (assessments, videos, interactive pieces, simulations), for the Higher Education science markets, in coordination with book development, to make media an integral part of the book story.

  • Scope, budget and manage resources on projects from concept to launch with responsibility for schedule, budget, risk and quality management.

  • Partner with Commercial Product, Content Strategy, Marketing, Design and Technology teams to develop products accordingly.

  • Guide vendor decision, create Requests for Proposals (RFP), solicit bids from vendors, and write contracts.

  • Hire and manage cross-functional teams, including vendors, content-providers, freelancers, project management vendors and quality assurance vendors.

  • Ensure products adhere to project plans and meet Pearson standards and requirements for efficacy and accessibility.

  • Candidate should be able to track their completed tasks, as well as those in progress to ensure resolutions in a timely manner

  • This role will introduce the candidate to a number of different workflows with varying degrees of priority. In conjunction with their team, the candidate will be expected to learn to evaluate the urgency of requests and prioritize their schedule accordingly.

  • If they are unable to resolve an issue on their own, candidate should show initiative and feel comfortable sharing any identified issues with the team to help resolve problems. As part of a team, candidate should always feel comfortable asking for help.


  • 3+ years of experience in a digital creative production role, with 2 years specifically producing educational software and managing cross-functional teams

  • Mastery of complex content and scheduling systems, and ability to track large amount of information

  • Experience managing medium and large projects using project management tools

  • Candidate should be able to communicate in a clear, professional and effective manner with team members, both internal and external

  • Proven ability to gain consensus among stakeholders and to interact with internal departments using professional interpersonal skills and solutions-oriented approach

  • An understanding of technical product management including products using JavaScript, HTML, XML, CMS, Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Ability to work remote beginning date of hire (internet service required) as well as to come into the office regularly in Boston, San Francisco or Hoboken

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience required

  • PMP® preferred but not required
