Role Summary:

Senior Finance Business Partner providing financial support to a significant business area or function. This position will partner with the SVP Product Management Higher Education to understand the current dynamics in relevant parts of the company portfolio, compare to market trends and optimise investment opportunities.

Directly responsible for a cost base of approx.£40mincluding both opex and capex. Further accountability to deliver products to support and grow approx.£1bnof revenues across the Group.

Reporting to the Finance VP of Global Product , you will help shape Pearson’s overall financial profile, specifically relating to our HE Product Management line of business and also play a part in building the team’s community and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Resource Planning

Serves as the lead finance business partner and cooperates with as well as advises top management about decision making in areas of investment, financing, liquidity and dividend, among others.

Takes responsibility for defining appropriate metrics and tracking finance strategic performance metrics for value delivered from the initiatives.

Leads the financials and resource planning implementation, collaborates with strategic stakeholders, especially Pearson business leaders.

Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

Translates business strategy into financial targets and tactical plans and supports execution in a controlled risk and reward-based manner.

Interprets and makes effective management decisions using benchmarking, trends, and other planning and forecasting method as well as develop and implement improvements to the planning processes.

Establishes and ensures effective and consistent modelling, planning and forecasting processes across business unit(s), identifies and implements best practices in these processes.

Financial Analysis

Reviews outputs of financial and cash flow analyses to develop views and guides management; resolves significant reporting variances or recommends corrective actions where needed.

Approves and presents financial statements and analysis to executive management and provides recommendations for improvements.

Applies sophisticated quantitative analysis to identify the business, commercial and financial impact on the organization of different courses of action; advises on actions or options to improve the modelled outcome.

Investment Analysis & Allocation

Evaluates and analyzes large and complex investments. Assures short to long-term projections incorporating all sources of capital and resources in a wide variety of the risk analysis/scenarios.

Supports the fine tuning of capital allocation processes to ensure that they are best in class while enhancing company value.

Oversees investment analyses prepared by Pearson Financial Services.

Cost Management

Manages cost/challenge processes and works closely with the business to ensure key performance indicators are measuring the right metrics.

Discusses and recommends transfer pricing systems and evaluates the effects of transfer prices. Provide leadership and coaching to team members on cost control and reporting issues.

Provides analysis to support customer/product profitability.
