Position Summary:

We’re looking for an innovative, motivated, and creative in-house copywriter to lead the creation of written content for clients throughout the entire Pearson Online & Blended Learning organization. This person will report into our Creative Services Manager.

The successful candidate will write and edit copy for Connections Academy schools, Pearson Online Academy, internal comms and emerging corporate partnerships and, thus, should be readily able to switch branding and tone to accommodate these different audiences. In this role, this person will be writing and brand editing copy for: video scripts, collateral/marketing communications, direct mail, website and SEO/keyword optimization, email, blog posts, infographics, social media and more. The ideal candidate will have a background in digital marketing, communications and agency copywriting experience with the ability to write effective copy that informs, excites, and drives engagement. Further, this person will lead the copy direction for a team of freelance copywriters to support the marketing team’s content needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Write winning content that intrigues, inspires and engages audiences, while also driving results. This copywriter must effectively communicate our brand messaging, positioning, and call to action to our prospects and current customers:

Strong ability to write digital content for varying formats and audiences, adhering to best practices and standards of the individual channels, including:

Website copy

Lead-driving landing page content

Optimizing content for SEO

Interactive infographics

Interviewing and writing SEO optimized resource Hub articles and thought leadership pieces

Organic social media post copy and occasionally paid search and social executions

Excellent ability to adapt the brand’s voice and tone to deliver on messaging goals throughout the funnel in external family communications, including but not limited to the following formats:


Email campaign messaging

Information session presentation and video scripts

Brochures, flyers, posters

Direct Mail postcards and Versioning school-specific information

Events scripting for presentations and videos, handouts and flyers

Enthusiasm for leading team of freelance copywriters in the development of successful content

Assign out projects and provide copy direction

Review draft copy and provide feedback

Ensure thorough understanding of brand(s) positioning, voice, tone, mandatories, etc. through trainings and frequent updates

Thorough understanding of how to communicate with internal teams and existing customers to maintain and improve customer experience by:

Drafting and editing internal communications

Drafting and editing customer-facing copy used by customer support team, including call scripts, email templates, etc

Drafting and editing customer-facing enrollment system messaging

Other duties as needed

Assisting and supporting needs of Resource Hub

Proofread copy and design

Ensure compliance with Pearson OBL brand standards and style guide

Enforce and maintain brand standards and style guides

Train out (as-needed) brand standards and style guides to freelancers and partner agencies

Project Management- Ability to self-manage to deadlines and be communicative regarding workload and expectation-setting.

Writing Samples/Creative Work Portfolio must be submitted along with resume

Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in English, Journalism, or Marketing

Three (3) to five (5) years experience writing and editing marketing copy, agency experience preferred

Experience in the education industry (preferred) or other highly regulated field

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects based on business-critical needs and meet deadlines

Experience in digital content creation for online experiences, websites, and other digital media leveraging catchy headlines, implementing linking strategies, and optimizing writing for SEO to drive clicks and conversions

Excellent writing and editing skills, including knowledge and adaptability of various editorial style guides and tones, as well as writing compelling long and short form content

Strong collaboration skills, as well as ability to work independently

Ability to consult with internal and external constituents and draw information from others; produce written materials as required with permissions & legalities

High level of proficiency in MS-Office products (PowerPoint, Word)

Attention to detail plus editing and proofreading ability Driven to be creative, innovative and strategic
