Global PR & Communications Manager
10 months fixed-term contract
Full-time working 37.5 hours per week
Based in London Strand
With team members located in the US, UK, India, China and Japan, the Pearson VUE global marketing team delivers a full suite of services to drive company growth objectives and enhance the reputation and presence in market. This role is largely responsible for managing and driving content and media relations globally. Reporting to the Global Vice President of Marketing, you will work with the existing global content strategy to position us the leading authority on computer-based assessment and testing.
Primarily focused on PR, you will also leverage the content plan to ensure we create a suite of education content across a range of internal/external channels. You will work with internal subject matter experts to create compelling content that better educates prospects and wider audiences globally.
You must be an engaging writer and able to grasp technical matter and provide output in a range of styles and for multiple audiences/sectors such as medical, finance, IT and other professional industries. You will be expected to secure feature coverage, along with news of everyday business wins, in national and trade publications, working both alone and with agencies where appropriate.
You will also support wider communications efforts where needed, such as internal communications, crisis communications, marketing events, campaigns and initiatives through channels such as social media.
This role will suit a professional PR person willing and able to go the extra miles needed to both drive and manage the global PR strategy for a major division of Pearson.
Develop, implement and manage a global content plan for Pearson VUE, securing international media coverage to position us as a global authority.
Plan, identify, draft, and secure educational and global feature coverage to raise our profile in key markets.
Draft press releases and major company announcements for promotion
Serve as lead during instances of critical incidents to provide external communication strategies and content.
Liaise with the wider team, and agencies (where appropriate) to provide a fully integrated campaign around specific communications.
Develop strong relationships with media and wider Pearson colleagues to maximise effectiveness of communications.
Manage the global PR process.
Our Successful Candidate
We are interested in applicants with experience in PR or journalism and media relations in both international trade and national media.
A track record of developing feature ideas, pitching and securing.
An experienced copywriter with a range of collateral.
Able to use social media effectively in a b2b environment.
Experience in crisis communications handling – both social media and traditional.
Managing suppliers and senior stakeholders diplomatically.
Highly motivated self-starter with strong project management and time management skills.
Well organised, with an eye for detail, quality and accuracy.
Capable of effectively prioritising multiple projects and deadlines with reliable follow-through.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment in occasionally stressful situations.
Experience with digital and traditional marketing channels.
Travel to client meetings or conferences as required.
Proficient at using Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Experienced with working with geographically diverse teams.
