Summary

The Associate Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, coding and integrity of non-complex computer software solutions. This position implements system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the open source management environment. The Administrator ensures that the long-term requirements of the systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. May receive some general instructions on routine work or more detailed instructions on new assignments. Solves problems of limited scope. Recognizes when a decision is needed for problem solving, analyzes the situation and makes independent recommendations and decisions.

General Responsibilities

  • Customize WordPress CMS installations to align with marketing requirements

  • Write documentation to aid managing and troubleshooting website architecture and code

  • Maintain databases; e.g. re-indexing, query optimization, backups

  • Monitor the web platforms to maintain uptime and performance of websites and databases

  • Website and server troubleshooting

  • Deploy websites and applications into testing, staging, and production environments

Qualifications

General Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from an accredited institution in IT, Systems Support or equivalent discipline OR appropriate combination of experience and education

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with Linux command line

  • Experience with web server management; specifically Apache and/or nginx

  • Experience managing and administering MySQL databases

  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools; e.g. ansible, chef, puppet, etc.

  • Understanding of cloud-based services and systems

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages; e.g. Php, Python, Bash, Ruby, etc.
