We are currently seeking an innovative individual for a Senior Research Director position to support the Educational market classroom assessment solutions, most notably, aimswebPlus. AimswebPlus, a leading product within the portfolio, is a universal screening and progress monitoring assessment system for literacy and math. Clinical Assessments, the portfolio’s assessment division, is noted for our gold-standard assessment contributions in cognition, memory, neuropsychology, behavior, personality/psychopathology, achievement, occupational therapy, and speech/language pathology. Noted brands include the Wechsler and Kaufman families of products, the BASC and aimswebPlus.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in academic research, and in creating and building assessment solutions for the education market. This position will report to the Director, Education Portfolio Management and Delivery, and can be remote, or based in our San Antonio, TX, or Bloomington, MN offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Research Director for education portfolio solutions is responsible for working with a team of professionals – Research Directors, Product Managers, Content developers, and Digital Developers – to assist in the development of new assessment solutions. Responsibilities include:
Lead research and development efforts for an established RTI/MTSS assessment solution including the development, standardization and implementation of new literacy and math assessment measures. This may include item development, scope, research and data analysis plans, scoring rules, and working with technology to help prototype digital item delivery approaches
Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-divisional teams in the development and delivery of new digital assessment solutions
Represent Pearson through conference presentations, technical papers, and other scholarly work
Provide technical solutions and contribute to proposals to acquire new business
Travel expected to be approximately 10%, post pandemic

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree in educational measurement or a related field from a nationally recognized institution of higher education
Five-Ten years of relevant job experience creating or working on assessment solutions preferred
Demonstrated familiarity with Psychometric Techniques including classical test theory, item response theory, test equating, scaling and linking, and standard setting
Preference given to candidates with experience with RTI/MTSS assessment systems
Self-starter: Ability to work independently
Familiarity with software packages and software development processes
Knowledge and ability to identify implications of relevant national trends in education on assessment solutions
Communication Skills, Technical Presentations, and Client Contact
Has strong communication skills (oral, written, and business) to function effectively in a leadership role with internal and external clients and liaise with other national measurement and research/market experts
A track record of professional achievement through presentations at professional conferences and publications in professional journals or equivalent
Experience engaging with internal and external customers to understand their needs
