The MDM Lead will join the Master Data Management department to contribute to Pearson’s data transformation. You will be responsible for the operational management of the customer and product dimension at Pearson, onboarding legacy customer and product data into the MDM solution, harmonization of business rules and processes, remediation of data issues, and the establishment of policies and processes in conjunction with the business stewards at Pearson.

As an MDM support lead, you will work closely with the Business Data Stewards (customer & product), MDM application manager, cross platform support teams, data quality team, guiding root cause analysis, and leading continuous improvement at Pearson.


  • Support Oracle MDM, Customer Data Hub, Product Data Hub including Product Information Management.

  • Align with the product and customer data (business) teams on priorities.

  • Collaborate with other platforms (CRM, eCommerce, Royalties, ERP, etc) support teams, DBAs, Admins etc to understand the cross-platform dependencies and troubleshoot the incidents accordingly.

  • Collaborate with offshore and drive the priority incidents to completion.

  • Collaborate with offshore – prioritization, resolution plans, communicating status.

  • Prepare the weekly and Monthly support report and present to management, highlighting the trends, root causes and recommendations.

  • Problem source Identification, problem resolution, frequent review and updating the defects in the defect tracking system. In addition to determining recommendations for problem resolution, communicate action plans to our users, ensure that the user is satisfied with steps towards resolution or the problem's root cause.

  • Continuously flex (hands-on) programming and technology skills through driving problem resolution using improvements to existing and/or new technical Support tools and procedures which can often include investigating source code, providing feedback to development for continuous improvements, creating test cases, creating tools or providing debug modules to our clients.

  • Hands on development of minor enhancements.

  • Participate in Master Data Architecture discussions and provide operational inputs.

  • Perform duties related to the effort estimation, documentation, business process and production support.

  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts and data stewards to define data standards, definitions, checklists, guidelines, etc.

  • Assure data and business rule standards are documented via SOPs and adhered across the organization.

  • Identify and remediate data issues through leading improvement teams striving to standardize business rules across the organization.

  • Ability to prioritize the issues with accountability for remediation in a timely manner.

  • Provide data analysis resulting in improvement recommendations.

  • Adhere and promote best practices, enable standard practices, and communicate value to the business.

  • Degree in a Computer Science, Management Information Systems or similar discipline.

  • Overall Experience of 10 years in IT.

  • 5-7 years' experience of Oracle MDM implementation / Support.

  • Experience in Customer Match and merge concepts.

  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle Trading Community Architecture is required

  • Ability to document data flows and processes.

  • Ability to manage version control system like Kintana.

  • Experience with root cause analysis and cross functional resolution of issues.

  • Experience working in Medium to Large scale Master Data implementations is preferred.

  • Excellent at creating stored procedures, functions, packages, database triggers and other database objects using SQL.

  • Experience writing complex queries using advanced SQL concepts.

  • Proven ability to document business requirements related to data function and rules.

  • Continuous process improvement, measurement and change adoption experience in data management.

  • Oracle Applications Framework working experience is preferred.

  • ETL and Data Quality processes experience is preferred.

  • Data quality tools integrating with Oracle MDM applications experience is preferred

  • Resource with Technical and functional knowledge is preferred.

  • Oracle Trading Community Architecture

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the Media Industry.

  • Experience with Kintana code promotion tools.

  • Experience with Jira.

  • Experience in organizing and leading projects.
