As one of our interns, you will gain a comprehensive introduction to our business. You’ll be assigned to a team and work on real-life projects that bring our qualification delivery and services to life. Support in the role in job training and professional development will be provided to enable you to contribute to the business. You’ll also have direct access to a senior member of the team, as each intern will be mentored to help you make the most of the 10-week program.

What Does the Internship Program Offer?
Successful candidates will spend 10 weeks working both with Central Technology and Pearson Businesses.
You will be paid for the duration of your internship. The internship begins on Monday, June 2 nd and ends Friday, August 8 th .
What do the 10 weeks involve?
Interns will develop a broad knowledge of business analysis at Pearson, completing rotational work with several teams focused on different business and technology assessment delivery There will also be an opportunity to work and contribute to solutions management strategic initiatives.
Job Description
We are looking for a uniquely talented individual who can turn data into insight and action. The Data Analyst consults with internal customers to understand their business questions, and then delivers analyses to meet those needs. Along the way, instrumentation is specified and deployed, data pipelines and processing defined, and visualizations built. The end results help optimize our customer experience and inform the entire product life cycle from ideation to launch to constant improvement.
We are looking for strong critical thinking skills, the ability to navigate various data environments, hands-on technical ability in data, and a drive to understand our business. The successful candidate will be a thought partner for our customers and will assist them in understanding data and generating further questions. This individual will dig into raw and processed data (backend DBs, Google Analytics, and event/message data), transform information into visualizations using Microsoft BI, Tableau, R, Excel, etc., and effectively articulate the story behind the data. The role involves close interaction with product management, user design groups, data warehouse developers, data architects, and software development teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical.
Responsibilities
Partner with Product Managers, Service Owners, Engineering Leads, Data Architects and content teams to prioritize, scope and perform in-depth analyses that drive and inform strategic decisions, especially related to product development and growth initiatives.
Develop insights to answer complex questions via thorough and well-designed data analyses using SQL, R, and Microsoft BI and other tools with a focus on product efficacy and the optimization of learning outcomes.
Provide thoughtful leadership with internal stakeholders so that they may be able to better leverage insights.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of business operations, document business processes and work with stakeholders to design new processes to achieve strategic goals. Understand on a broad level how operations between different business units interact and flow together.
Lead technology team discussions concerning business requirements.
Develop an in-depth understanding of enterprise data objects and attributes. Work with business stakeholders to define functional data needs for the creation of data marts.
Work across departments and collaborate with business managers, user experience designers, systems architects, engineering delivery teams, project managers, QA, and operations teams.
Identify information and visualizations required to tell a compelling and meaningful story using data; establish baselines and monitor growth or decline in metrics.
Contribute to tools, documentation, and instruction to enable our customers to increasingly use data independently.
Track and report on the status of deliverables in a project schedule. Serve as a point of contact to our business partners and cross-functional teams for day-to-day management of the Analytics program.
Minimum Requirements
We look for Students pursuing a STEM degree (computer science, software engineering, information security, engineering, or technology)
Students should also have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with an ability to translate business requests into technical asks. Experience in computer software is a bonus.
Critical thinking and flexibility is important, as you will be joining a versatile and agile solutions management team.
Familiarity with some of the following: SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX, Excel, Microsoft BI, Tableau, Bi-Publisher, MongoDB, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python, PHP, HTML etc.
Familiarity with database design and development experience using Db2, SQL Server, or Oracle databases and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Graduation date of May 2026.
Must be able to work hybrid; in-person/remote at our Durham office for the entire 10-weeks
