At Pearson, the safety and welfare of our staff and customers is paramount. As we enter a new digital journey, we are looking for someone to join an established, and trusted high delivery team.

This position serves as a Specialist in the Pearson Global Health and Safety Team, reporting to the Health and Safety Manager - Americas. Main responsibilities will be as a hands-on principal contributor in the development and implementation/delivery of health and safety programs for Pearson North America businesses, with specific additional emphasis on information management solutions and strategic project management & implementation. The successful candidate will be a strong and competent technical advisor as well as an effective facilitator who can support our businesses in achieving their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary role in development and implementation of H&S program, resources, and related processes, and provides guidance to HR, Facilities, management, and other business groups on Health & Safety.

  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, processes, systems, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

  • Facilitates the development of H&S objectives and provides guidance and support to help businesses achieve annual performance goals.

  • Develops and maintains guidance resources for use by employees and teams.

  • Investigate incidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.

  • Facilitates and conducts risk assessments and identifies measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

  • Manages substantial amounts of data including performance metrics. Tracks safety audit deficiencies and corrective actions. Assembles data into usable tools for internal use and presentations. Utilizes safety management and related information systems.

  • Serves as a primary administrator for the PRISM/Intelex system, and other global team informational resources.

  • Supports implementation, user management, application configuration & deployment and data optimization to ensure information systems appropriately drive performance improvements in risk management.

  • Supports implementation of other risk programs including Corporate Security, Business Resilience and Safeguarding.

  • Based on developed strategies, supports the wider team in the development of project management plans and progress reporting to help ensure priorities are being achieved and effectively communicated to management.

The salary range for this position is $60K to $70K depending on experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or 3-5 years of directly related experience

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred

  • Demonstrated success in previous work involving strategic, tactical, and operational experience

  • Experience identifying and maintaining successful relationships with stakeholders

  • Knowledge of digital transformation in business or like experience in organizations with diverse H&S risks

  • Experience developing and presenting work/reports to leadership, strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience collecting and analyzing H&S related data
